I need help from experienced DVCr's that travel during summer months. I have been to Disney during the summer years ago so I don't remember much. We are now to the point where we are limited on travel times due to school and both our kids playing select soccer. I am trying to plan our 2011 vacation and we would really love to try either BWV or BCV for a few nights and then head over to Vero Beach for 5 nights (1 bdrm at Disney and then an Inn room at Vero). Our home resort is BLT so I can't do anything until the 7 month mark but I am trying to plan and book BLT just as a backup for those 1st few nights so I need to decide on dates.

Here is our situation: We cannot go any earlier than June 11 because soccer tryouts are June 6-10. We cannot go in August as that is when soccer camp/practices will start. So, our options are the dates in between. I am leaning towards arriving at Disney on June 12.

For those that travel during this time- will it be impossible to get another resort and Vero at the 7 month mark for this week in June? Also, is this the week everybody starts going because all schools are out?

Any advice, tips, et.c??? TIA

I had no problem getting AKV in mid June last year at 7 months. A friend got an AKV concierge room at 7 months for late June 2 years ago. I don't think the summer is as hard to get for DVC as the fall months. Not sure about Vero's patterns. HH is hard to get in the summer.

We travel in June and July and although we've not had a problem getting a room, the parks are much busier in July. It seems like the first two weeks in June are OK, but then the third starts to see more attendance. My suggestion then is to go earlier rather than later simply for the number of people at the parks.

I have never been in June, but have been every week, at one time or the other, of July. It was really busy around 4th of July and then each week got a little better. We now go in August and the crowds are a bit less than July.

I believe that earlier June would be better as some schools are out but not all. Our schools here in central NY don't get out until the end of June. I see July as the "overlap" month for those that get out earlier and those that get out later and is more apt to be crowded.

We go every year in June from around the 8th to the 13th, just like you due to school. June is the better summer month to travel to Disney. Many of the northern schools are not out yet, it's still a bit less humid and hot than lets say July, Aug, & Sept (which are brutal) and the big afternoon rains haven't set in yet. My son loves the BWV and that's where we've stayed the last 3 years (Star Wars week-end). I've never had trouble booking any resort at the 7 month mark, studios do go 1st, but I think with a 1 br you'll be in good shape! We personally alway book 2brs, to date the only resort I haven't been able to get at 7 months is the Treehouses, there are only 60 of them and only 30 available for DVC.
