HELP:

I know that this will probably be our last trip to Disney World due to the fact that my husband is not as big of a fan as I am. I have never before been able to stay at a deluxe resort and I would give anything to accomplish that on our 2008 trip. I am sure that the pros here on the boards can explain to me how the split stays work.

As it stands right now our family trip is planned for December 19 thru December 28, 2008. The only resort we were able to afford for the entire 9 day stay is All Star Music Suites. I forgot to mention that there are five of us in our family DH, Myself, DD18, DD15, DD13. I would love it if there was any way possible for us to be able to spend a couple of nights at a Deluxe resort but I don't even know how to begin checking on this or where to research this idea.

Trust me when I say that I am just truly excited at the fact that we are even getting to go to Disney during Christmas this year, but it truly would make the trip magical for this 40 year old woman if I could enjoy the Deluxe resort just for a couple of nights during our stay.

Thank you in advance for any help that you can give me. I hope everyone is haveing a magical 2008 so far.

We have been doing split stays our last 3 trips or so, and Disney makes them very easy. Just make your reservations for the dates you want...I have seen it recommended on this board to stay Deluxe at the end of your trip so you are not disappointed by going from a deluxe to a value! You just call bell services to pick up your luggage and let them know you need it delivered to what ever Disney hotel you are transferring to and they will take care of it. It does take hours to transport, so expect to be "homeless" and w/o access to baggage until check in time (or later) at the new place. We usually check in early and then head to a park ....they give you a card w/a phone number and you can call to see if your room is ready.

Some things to consider in your situation:

* you will be going from 2 bathrooms to 1...something to think about w/4 ladies! You may have more privacy/room at ASMU suites!

* Also, I'm not sure, but there may be an extra adult fee for the 18 year old at the deluxe.

* If you are on the dining plan, this split reservation will affect the cost of your tickets.

* It is also a crazy busy time of year, so don't expect to have the room/baggage ready early. And if you check in at the second resort early, it will take time out of playing at the parks during a very busy time of year.

Another thing is to consider renting points from a DVC owner. You have time to research it and see if you are comfortable w/the idea.....The DVC resorts are beautiful and either part of a deluxe resort or are the equivalent. Check out the DVC board and good luck! Don't feel bad if you stay at ASMU the whole time...you will be at Disney w/your family and that 's a deluxe vacation to me! Happy planning!

Definately do the deluxe last. Our 1st split stay we did the CR and then ASMu. It is a bit of a let down, not because ASMu was "bad" but because CR was so "nice". We were missing the views, ammenities, and convenience.

We are going to do a split stay in September - both at DVC resorts (using a friend's points).

The advice I've heard so far is:

1) Don't link your tickets to your room keys, as there could be confusion after the split with extra magic hours, park hopping etc.

2) If you have the Dining Plan, you'll need to use up the credits for the first stay before midnight of the day you move. This is also a bit tricky with the linking to the room key.

3) As another poster mentioned, stay in the nicer resort at the END of your trip!

Have fun! =)
