Help with Split Stay Magic Bands

We are coming to Disney World in about 5 weeks. We are sharing a DVC reservation with my parents, who live in a different state, for the first week. Then my parents go home, and we are staying on a separate reservation for 3 more nights. Because of flights, we are now actually arriving 2 days before the start of my parents' DVC reservation (off site). So . . . .

will our linked tickets be on the magic bands for my parents' reservation or on the magic bands linked to our reservation? Can/should we decline one set of magic bands? Does it matter which?

The reason I ask is that my parents live in a different state. Since we'll be there two days earlier, we'd like to use our magic bands as our tickets, but if the tickets are linked to the magic bands they receive in the mail, can we "transfer" the info to the magic bands we receive since the magic bands going to my parents' address will come with them to Florida? How challenging is this?

I know there must be a simple solution, but I can't wrap my head around it. We want to make sure that the magic bands we use have our tickets linked, and can allow us to open the doors and parking at both resorts.

If you have an MDE account in your name (My Disney Experience) then:
1. if you can see both of the resort reservations in your MDE account then all of your Magic Bands will open the room doors of both resorts.
2. if you can see your tickets in your MDE account then all of the MagicBands in this account will work for your tickets

There is no reason why you couldn't get both sets. You can order different colors. You can also decline a set if you want to. I would probably keep the set that matched the first reservation, just in case.

There is no information on the magic bands. All information is in your MDE account, the magic bands access that information. All of your magic bands that are registered to your account are interchangeable. You can get both of them or one it doesn't matter or you can use one from a previous trip if you have them. I like to change colors, I use some old ones and some new ones.

I wouldn’t decline either set.

If I’m following correctly Part 1 MBs will be sent to your parents in a different state and Part 2 MBs will be sent to you.

You can use the Part 2 set when you arrive early and your parents can bring set #1.

Then if you want to swap colors you will have two bands to choose from. Also, the new MBs have removable centers so if you have two colors you can put them together. We have a split stay for our upcoming trip and we each chose two contrasting bands that would look good together.

But, when I tried to add a day to our trip, Disney made me book a separate reservation so now we wound up with two MBs each.

Yes, DH and I were going to get whatever coordinating color the kids wanted so they could do this with our four bands.

But, when I tried to add a day to our trip, Disney made me book a separate reservation so now we wound up with two MBs each.

My daughter is three, and she couldn't decide between pink and purple. Now she can have the best of both worlds.

Get both sets! Anyways you have to recheck in so you may as well have another color band!!
