We recently bought number removed points at resort remomved. We paid cash no financing through Disney. We are looking to sell due to family reasons (have another surprise baby on the way) and need to move to a bigger house. I don't even know where to start to sell the membership. I don't even know what a fair price is. I do not want to take a loss or even gain a profit I just want to cut even on the deal. Can anyone help me to figure out who to contact, what price to list, also what is involved with the process? Thanks!!

Contact the timeshare store shown above...just bought my points from them...super good people. CONGRATS on your newest addition

I think you are being optomisitic and may need to consider taking a loss especially if you didn't get a great price. I just looked at a broker I have used in the past and prices were all running under $100 a point...

I would definitely contact the Timeshare Store -- sponsor of this forum, banner ad at the top of the page. I've bought twice and sold twice through them, and they are simply the BEST.

If you bought ** direct from Disney, you may not be able to sell without taking a loss. From the ROFR thread, it looks like ** prices are all over the place, so talk to the TTS folks about how to price your contract. In addition to probably selling for less than you paid, you'll be paying a 10% commission + another $100 or so in miscellaneous costs.

If you think the change in your situation will only create a temporary hit to your finances, another option would be to keep your contract and rent your points for a year or two. Since your contract is paid for, you should be able to easily earn more than enough to pay your annual dues.

The downside of that strategy is that DVC resale prices are trending steadily downward, so if you held on for a couple of years the prices might move significantly lower from where they are now.

Good luck with whatever you decide, and just know that the new addition will be worth 100X anything you might lose in selling DVC. DVC is good; kids are priceless.

Google Disney Vacation Club resales, and you'll see the top few brokers. The Timeshare Store, Fidelity and a couple of others are really good. I've bought and sold through three of the four with no issues.

For the most part, they all work the same way. No reputable broker will charge you to list with them. They only collect what's owed to them (10%) once you sell. What I like about The Timeshare Store and the last company I used (search Disney Vacation Club grandma) is that they have open listings. You can list with as many brokers as you want, which increases your chances of selling.

In looking at my paperwork, we only owed commission, an estoppel fee of $50, as the buyers paid both maintenance fees and closing costs. It was really easy to list, and everything went really smoothly.

Best of luck, and congratulations on your precious little surprise! :cloud9:

Thanks for the advice...How do you rent out points? I didn't even know that you could do that!

There is a rent/trade board on this site that you can pay a small fee to list your points or another option is contact David's rental he will rent out your points (you will have to make the reservation but he makes all the contacts and gets payment for you) and you will get 10.00 pp. Look into David's (a board sponsor on Dis).

I just rented our points out for the 1st time SSR points and got 10.00 pp and they were gone within 6 hours of listing them, almost double the maintenance fee. There is a lot of information about renting on this board just do a search. Good luck and CONGRATS on the baby!

I say rent them if your money situation is only temporary and especially if you're going to take a large hit on the resale.

While resales have been a roller coaster, rental prices have been trending upward lately. Personally I say don't take less then $12 per point on a rental (unless your points are about to expire). As long as you have decent time left on your use year, you can rent them all day long at $12. It's easy to do on your own, but can be a little time consuming. If you don't want to mess with the hassle then go through David who will do it for $10/pt, I believe.

Being able to rent your points if/when you hit hard times financially is the reason why I always tell people you can't lose when you buy into DVC. If you need any help or tips on renting, shoot me a PM and I'll be glad to help.

Please email us at The Timeshare Store, Inc.® at sales@dvcstore.com. We will be happy to give you the information on selling. If you provide the # of points you own and at which resort we can give you an idea of what those properties are selling for.

Congrats on the baby. Our family has baby # 2 set to arrive around 9/6/11 so I share in your excitement.

Have you considered renting instead of selling points? You may even find family members who will take turns renting for a couple of years. Much better than selling . . .

Hi Jason, Congrats on the kiddo coming your family's way. We will be using some of the SSR points we got from TSS on our 9/18 trip. I bet you will have some pictures by then that we can see. Best of luck to you guys:thumbsup2

You can also contact one of the rental sites, like David's DVC. He rents your points for you and you get $10 per point in return. All you have to do is call in the rezzie then you get your $$ immediately. TSS just started renting, too. They pay the owner $9 a point when they rent it out.

I have rented my points for several years now. Kids got too old but now finally have a granddaughter who will love to go! Glad I didn't sell.
