Hi everyone,

DD needs to make some cash for college expenses. We have a houseful of books that we could probably put up for sale on amazon or ebay.

I have no experience with either website.

Anyone have a recommendations for which website that will make her the most $$$.

Any thoughts or experiences welcomed!

We have sold on half.com, and amazon. I 've noticed in the past, with our type of books, that Ebay is NOT the best way to go..

DH sold most of his Microsoft Certification books, with more to go. He did better on Amazon than Ebay. I have also sold on half.com as well, but that was before it was bought out by Ebay.

My sister is very successful with books, and sells most on Amazon, with some on eBay (she seems to know which ones go where). I believe with Amazon the selling fee is higher than eBay, but there is no listing fee. However, it seems to me, that you can't just put a few books up on Amazon..I think there is a minimum (although my sister isn't online right now, and so I can't ask her..I don't know it for a fact). Also, they stay up until they sell.
There are some book clubs dedicated to book sellers on Yahoo..you might want to do a search and join one or two.

I just talked wiht my sister..you can put up as few as you wish on Amazon. She puts her more obscure expensive books up, and lets them sit there til they sell.

Thanks guys.

I think we'll put a few up on Amazon's site and see how it goes. Better than getting a buck for a book at a garage sale!

I have sold 100's of books on Ebay and that has been the best option for me. My books sell very fast on Ebay. The ones I have sold on Amazon took a very long time. You need to check out the different prices that are being ask for books between Ebay and Amazon. I find that on Amazon, sellers want alot more money for their books than Ebay-why it takes longer to sell. If you want to sell them now, I would do Ebay. On Ebay you can control the shipping charge as where Amazon gives you a fixed amount back after the transaction has taken place. Do some research between the different cost associated with each option and Good-Luck.

It depend on what kind of books you have, as someone else said. I've had good luck selling new DVDs on Amazon (Columbia house messed up & wasn't helpful so I just sold the duplicates).

Books that were very popular and have a million copies floating around go for 5 or 10 CENTS on Amazon.com (+shipping) so there is no room for the casual seller like me. I have some great books in excellent condition, but I can't compete with 10 cents. :)

I'm looking into ebay for my Sci fi series paperbacks.
