Help with second set of Magicbands

We have 2 bands from the pilot program for Magicbands ( guessing they are at least 4 years old). We are returning this year. MDE is still showing active bands. Unfortunately, we chose the same color bands for this year. ( I thought I customized them?) Two sets of bands are listed and it keeps telling me to customize the bands. I can't find the old bands. How do I know if my new bands are customized? I appreciate your help.

There is a serial number on the back of your Magicband, and you should be able to match it to the Magicband with the same number that's on your MDE account. We've had to do that same thing for identical bands, until we caught onto naming the bands differently.

Interested in this too. I have a trip next year and currently own 2 bands from 2013. They still show as active and I still have both. I have to order three new ones for my family for the next trip in 2017, (total of 5) and was kinda hoping to get myself a new one since the old one is red and I wanted a purple one. I guess I want to know if it is possible to order entirely new ones and deactivate the two old ones?

I'm not following your question. Did they ship the new bands already?

Sorry I wasn't clear. I lost the old set from 4 years ago. We are going in September. On MDE, it said to customize the Magicbands. I thought I customized the new ones. I chose the same colors and names as the last trip. Now, there are two sets of bands listed. It STILL says I must customize them by 8/24/16. I don't know why the old ones are listed. Did I really customize the new ones? Two sets of bands are listed. I don't know the numbers on the back of the old ones, because they are misplaced. The new ones are not shipped yet. Any idea what to do? I don't want to delete the wrong set. I thought I already customized the new ones, but it still says to customize them.

I don't know if this helps, but you don't need to deactivate the old ones. Many people have multiple sets of Magicbands from former trips, all active and interchangeable. If it were me, I think I would customize the new ones, as the MDE app seems to think you need to do and just forget about the old ones.

My MDE showed the date I could customize them until they shipped - well after I had customized them. And a few months after I customized them, they added the purple bands, so I gladly changed them. I just received them yesterday.

Did you get an annual pass? Or do you have another trip? They would not have shipped new bands five months early. You likely received a new set of bands for some other reason, and will get another set for September.

You can click on them to customize them. It should be telling you to do this by such and such date. If you click to customize and the color isn't gray, that means you did customize but are still in that window to change the color if you'd like. Once it ships, you'll get a message telling you it's ready to ship or has shipped.

I customized mine to say Mom 16 so I would know which year. I will be coming later this year but offsite so hoping to use the mbs again. Need to research but I have time to find out.

I am not sure if this was meant for me or the OP, but my trip is in May, which is why I got my MBs already.

You can.
Nothing needs to be done to be able do so.

If you are buying new tickets for that trip, just make sure they are connected to and show in your MDE account.

Sorry I wasn't clear.

1. I lost the old set from 4 years ago. We are going in September.
2. On MDE, it said to customize the Magicbands. I thought I customized the new ones.
3. I chose the same colors and names as the last trip.
4. Now, there are two sets of bands listed.
5. It STILL says I must customize them by 8/24/16.
6. I don't know why the old ones are listed.
7. Did I really customize the new ones? Two sets of bands are listed.
8. I don't know the numbers on the back of the old ones, because they are misplaced.
9. The new ones are not shipped yet.
10. Any idea what to do?
11. I don't want to delete the wrong set.
12. I thought I already customized the new ones, but it still says to customize them.

1. That doesn't matter. You can forget about those older MBs.
2. It often says that in MDE (even if you HAVE customized new MBs.)
3. That's fine.
4. That's fine. Your older ones are there, and your newer ones are there. Nothing to worry about at all.
5. That's fine. If you want to do the customization again, go ahead.
6. Guests can have as many MBs as they like. Some guests have over two dozen of them, for each person. They can all work, interchangeably. Nothing to worry about. Everything is normal.
7. If two sets are listed, it looks like you did customize the new set.
8. Doesn't matter a bit.
9. That's normal. Your trip is months away. They will ship much closer to your trip dates.
10. You don't need to do anything.
11. Do NOT delete anything. Just do nothing.
12. That's fine. If you want to do the customization again, go ahead. It won't hurt anything.

We go to Disney yearly and this is our second time with magic bands. We just bought our tickets for our July trip and I linked them to our account. We have "old" magic bands that I have marked as inactive as well as our old cards/tickets that don't have any days left on them making them obviously inactive. We have customized our new bands for our July trip...will our new "active" cards/tickets automatically get linked to our new magic bands. Just making sure I don't have to do anything more at this point to make sure everything is linked correctly. Thanks!

1. There was no need to do that. You can still use your "old" MBs at WDW along with your "new" MBs.
2. It depends on how you ordered the tickets. If they are NOT currently seen in your MDE, you can add them (input their ticket numbers) to your MDE, yourself.
3. Well, you COULD (if you'd like) reactivate your "old" MBs and take them with you... to use as "spares" just in case you lose a new one.

Also, a lot of guests order diffent colors for their second set (and more) of MBs and "color-coordinate" with their outfits on different days at WDW.

So our tickets will basically be linked to both sets of magic bands?

Once the tickets are linked to your MDE, all of your MBs can access the tickets.

To be clear, nothing is "linked to" or "put onto" any MB.

A MagicBand just contains (and weakly "transmits") a unique serial number that is used to access the information that is stored in your MyDisneyExperience computer file.

So, even if you were to lose a MagicBand, the info stays locked in your file.

Disney can just set up a new band (different serial number)

to access the info in your MDE file.

Disney can also issue ADDITIONAL MB's to a guest and each

additional band can be used for the same purposes as the first band.

So, yes, there can be multiple MB's per person, and each of them can be used by that person, but their entitlements will all be common and identical.

The MagicBand works like the combination to a locked safe, or a key to a locked door.

The MB, itself, is not the file of info or the container of the info.

The MB just unlocks the file of info, allowing it to be accessed from your MDE account when needed.
