My family is going the beginning of August - we have three kids 6,9,12 - luckily my 9 year old won't be 10 until September (kids prices - yeah). We have been to Disney before (when I was pregnant with my 6 year old), are going again before our first trip to Universal. I made our Disney reservations long ago. I have sat at this computer a number of times over the last three months all set on making our reservations at HRH. The price of the rooms is so high that I am now leaning toward the smaller garden view room for AAA $233.10 per night - is it really large enough for 5 people???? The woman at Universal tried to talk me into a club level room for about $100 more per night - same size room with "club" priviledges. Is it worth it?????? Also, the deluxe room is in the running for $305 per night. HELP. I really need to do this and I am spinning my wheels. The "special deals" were stopping me as well, but I will ignore them and do my own pieces separately. This will probably be the only time we go because we are coming from Washington State and my Husband will not go again - this is MY trip!!!!!!

What is the possibility of getting an upgrade in the first week of August with my brand new Loew's card? Especially since it is our anniversary.

With four of us (all adults) staying in a RPR room, we fit just fine. I would say that you more than likely will fit just fine, and also assuming you won't be spending /too/ much time in the rooms, I would say a garden room is fine. I don't know anything about club or deluxe, though, even if we take 5 adults (grandmother included) .. I would think the standard garden room is plenty for us.

I don't think you get upgrades with the new (blue) Loews card, but your stay will be on the card since your playing AAA rate .. not sure how those work, but its a qualified stay from what I've read.

Edit: The rooms at HRH are 375 sq ft while RPR is 335 sqft .. so HRH rooms are larger than what we stayed in. And the rates /may not/ be in for HRH at that time period, or sold out?? APH/FLO/AAA all show same rates, and seasonal rate was about $20 more. RPR doesn't seem to have rates in or incorrectly (or halfway) .. AAA shows 183 and APH shows 203 ..

Our family (kids 13 and 9) are going the end of June and we also researched the different rooms and prices. We ultimately decided on the club room because of the free continental breakfast (breakfast alone would probably cost our family well over $40) free drinks all day long, and snacks and desserts at night. We would easily spend that extra $100 a day on food (and I suspect you would too). We are planning on eating at Citywalk (NBA City or Margaritaville) and will probably try Mythos so we are building those expenses into our budget too. Good luck!

We have stayed at RPR and Portofino in club rooms. If you can get a decent rate I think it is worth the money, especialy considering the ages of your children. It's so hassle-free to simply go to the club and have breakfast. The selction is good, something for everyone, and then you can start your day at the park on your own schedule. You can grab as much bottled water or soft drinks as you like at any time from the club. Also, you could make a meal of the evening selections, including beer and wine if you like. Just think what you would spend on breakfast, water, snacks, soft drinks, etc. Also, there are games, videos and a pool table so the kids can entertain themselves while you relax with a great view from the club.

I agree with the club room. It may seem like you are spending a lot of money but it will actually wind up saving you money espically with the kids. Just breakfast will easily cost you $40 per day (that is a low ball figure) It is also nice to have some wine, beer and appetizers and a media library. There are also bottles of water, soda, coffee and tea and other soft drinks available all the time, which you can take to the parks. They put out cookies and milk and other assorted night time treats. With a large family the club level will save you a lot more than you spend. It's a matter of being penny wise and pound foolish.
