Help with room requests please

We are soon headed to AKJ ( studio standard) and then BLT ( lake view, 1 BR) !
I'd appreciate some advice as to how to do our room requests. At AKL I've just said "close to the lobby", so far. While I would LOVE a savanna view, we've also had beautiful pool views and been able to see the kids ( teens) from our balcony. I've just had a knee replacement and the mere thought of trekking four miles through the hallways to get to our room at the end of the day has me worried- is that what would happen with any partial Savanah view? We had room 5353 once and it was far! Also another time we were "upgraded" to a partial savannah view and it was really just dirt and nothing much to see.
I'm not sure what to say at BLT. Thanks for the help!

I assume you mean Jambo at AKV.

The standard views at Jambo have either pool view or, for a somewhat majority of standard view rooms, what is called partial savanna view ( for most of those, you have a decentl savanna view). Highest chance to get a savanna view with standard at Jambo is to request room on the Kudo Trail side of the building since all standards on that side have savanna view. However, you could end up with room far from lobby and bus stop. If walking a long distance is considered an issue, you likely should keep that close to lobby request and possibly put in a request that you need to be near the lobby because of your knee issue.

At BLT with lake view, best request to make is high floor. Unlike AKV, none of the rooms at BLT are far from one of the two elevator blocks. Nevertheless, a somewhat long walk is unavoidable because the monorail station, bus stop, and stores are at Contemporary. In any event, you might request close to an elevator to shorten the walk somewhat.

Thank you! I thought I read someplace that there was a difference between rooms at BLT- some had a seating area in the kitchen and some didn't...? Something like that? That would be helpful as we have two teen ( constantly eating) boys...

Some units have bar stools at the kitchen island and others just have the island. All units have a kitchen table with seating for 6-ish directly across from the island area.
I believe the units without barstools are those inside the "C" that face the pool. If that's your only concern, I would stick with a high-floor request and nothing else as the barstools won't make or break your trip.
