Help we have made three trips as DVC members and gotten terrible room location. First was top floor close to the end. The second two trips we got the top floor last room. The furthest room in the place. We stay in a two bedroom and check in at six p.m.. We did not make any special request.

I have three small children and mother in law so it is hard on us to be so far away.

I asked when checking in and they said check back tomorrow. Moving rooms would be nuts and take too much effort and time.

Is it that we stay at split facilities (BCV & WVL)? The desk person was not much help said DVC assigned the room. She said she asked but there was nothing she could do.

This has really upset us. I feel we have less leverage when we complain as we are not a paying customer.

Still love Disney but why do we always have to stay so far away. Does not feel at all like VWL is full.

Do I need to be requesting something in advance?

at VWL now it is record setting hot and we have a long long walk back and forth to room.

It's hot even in Mass today...hovering around 80!!! Anyway...the best thing to do is to make any and all requests when booking. I usually put in 'top floor' but you could add close to elevators as well. When staying at two resorts, I usually head to the second resort about 10:000 in the morning. That way I can check in and give any requests again. If there is something that fits my request, they can give that villa to me. If you don't put in any request, and you arrive around 6 pm, you may just be getting whatever is left from that day's checkins. Try heading to the second resort mid-morning, checking in, then heading off to a park until late afternoon. And....let them know when you book your villa any special requests you may have. They aren't mindreaders so they can't give you what you want if you don't tell them.

I think youve summed up your trouble right there, a late arrival and no requests on the reservations. It has nothing to do with points vs cash.

As the previous poster stated, add requests that are important to you to your reservation, and you may even want them to note you wil be a late check-in.

But even if you do make requests, they are not guaranteed and are only requests. VWL is the smallest DVC and BCV is the next smallest. If you really want a long walk back to your villa, stay at the BWV. At BCV at least you have two sets of elevators.

Maybe you should try for a stay at SSR or OKW where you can park near to your villa and there are multiple stairways up to the higher floors and SSR has elevators in all the buildings.

I agree...make requests. One of the reasons we have always enjoyed OKW is that we feel like it is a house instead of a hotel. It sounds to me like you might have those preferences as well. At least at OKW, you can walk out the door and either take your car or catch a bus to the lobby, if that is your want. We don't find ourselves going to the lobby that much though. I do not like long hallways either, but I'm going to have to get used to them at AKV.

I agree - that's your problem right there. I'd say that most DVC members make some sort of room location request when they book. It's so easy to do - why not make a request?

It doesn't make much sense to get upset about your room location when you didn't tell them what you wanted. Some people prefer the rooms that are a little farther away from the action. Unless you tell MS that you DON'T want one of those rooms, they have no way of knowing.
