I have ressies for the Dolphin in Nov. ( 3 rooms at the great teacher rate. ) 1 is an accessable room the other 2 are just "regular" rooms. Now with the new code for the All Stars at $49 per night I wonder if we would be better off there. The trade off as I see it is better location to Epcot and MGM at the Dolphin, but at All Star we can afford 2 rooms which gives 2 bathrooms and more wheelchair space. There will be 3 people in the accessable room. But with 2 connecting rooms for the 3 there is alot more space for the same money. Does anyone have an opinion. Maybe I am over thinking this but I really want DS to be comfortable. The rest of the group has stayed at All Star before and it was fine. :D Thank-you for your help!

Stay with me at the Dolphin...I could use a freind to help me look around at the access :)

You might want to post on the resort board and ask about transportation. I don't know what the bus service is like at the Dolphin, but if you have been at AS before, you already know what it is like there.
Also, with 3 rooms at the Dolphin, I don't know if you have a guarantee that they will be near each other. Will that be a problem? It certainly is nicer to have connecting rooms so you can all be together without going out of the room. I didn't quite understand what rooms you will have3 if you stay at AS. Will it actually be 4 rooms (the accessible room with a connecting room and 2 other rooms)?
Hope someone else can help you too.

I had to edit this because the software filter thought my abbreviation for All Star was a bad word.

Wheelsie, Will you be there at the same time? How fun!

Sue, My DS will have her 2 teenagers with her in the accessable room. At the Dolphin they will share 1 room (2doubles and a roll away) where as at the ASM they could have the accessable room with a connecting double. With the connecting rooms she still has her kids there to help her but they each get their own bed and 2 bathrooms. I am worried about the space at the Dolphin with the roll away and trying to move her chair around. The ASM 2 rooms seems like more space over-all.

Transportation is a big concern for us. We will also have my grandfather with his scooter. So it is possible that we would have to split up at the ASM and ride 2 different busses to take both Grandpa with the scooter and DS with her wheelchair. At the Dolphin we can walk to 2 parks or take the boat which seems like it would be much better.

The more I think about it the more I don't know which is best -- more space (2 connecting rooms ) -- or better transportation.

Opinions?

I guess I would vote for the Dolphin then. I haven't stayed at either hotel, but the transportation sounds better than the extra space in the room. Hopefully, you won't be spending that much time in the room anyway. It would take a little more coordinating to get everyone ready with only one bathroom in the Dolphin room, but it may not be that bad.
You would have more flexibility for transportation there which would be a good trade off for the space.
Maybe you could get the Dophin to send you a floor plan of the accessible room so you can get a better idea.

We are now thinking of All Star and renting a car. DS is worried about the bummpy rides on other transportation and even on the walking path to Epcot and MGM. I want her to feel as at ease as she can, and she knows what to expect with car rides. Thanks for your advise send us lots of pixie dust that it all works out.:)

Good luck to you. If she has her own wheelchair and you haven't folded it before, you may want to practice and also see how big it is and whether you will be able to lift and fit it easily into a car trunk. We rent a van because DD's wheelchair is a pain to fold.

She has her own chair, she cannot walk at all anymore. They take it in the car all the time. I have never folded it but her son does it all the time with ease. He is a great kid! Thanks for your help.:D
