Hello everyone! We are currently booked at AKL for spring break (I am a bit scared:eek:, but DD is doing a dance workshop so we decided to make a vacation out of it), anyway if a GP offer or PIN does not come our way, we are going to have to change resorts because of finances. Thinking of switching to either CBR or PO Riverside...would love some input from others to see what they would do. We want to switch to a Moderate that is big because we know spring break will be crowded and figure a large resort would make it feel less crowded :lmao: as always TIA

those are both very nice resorts....you can't go wrong with either!:thumbsup2 I love CBR b/c of it's decor, and it is BIG and spread WAY out...lots of walking, plus it's a fair bus ride to everything, but it is beautiful!!!!
I like POR for it's location. It is mostly pretty,I'm not a personal fan of Alligator section,it's a little too rustic looking IMHO. But in general, nice location, boat ride to DTD, seems closer to parks, etc. (that might be my imagination) SOme sections are prettier than others, nice food options too.

you might be able to stay AKL - just cancel your reservation and make one with a DVC member for Jambo house - value or standard studio.

now studio has no housekeeping and queen bed plus double (full) sleeper mattress.

you can rent a reservation thru a DVC member.

Having stayed at both, our familiy prefers CBR. It is big, but like you said it never feels crowded because of that. We have been there when it's at capacity and it never felt like. The laid back atmosphere is such a nice change from the craziness of the parks.

Every village has a bus stop so you're never far from one. There are plenty of non-preferred rooms that are just a short walk to OPR and the Main Pool.

We just really love the tropical theme, very relaxing! And the grounds are beautiful.

You really can't go wrong with either!

We are staying at AKL next summer but as part of our discussion we needed a financial back up plan and chose PO-riverside after checking out several moderates. To us it seems quite and more like a destination. Good luck and I hope you don't have to change hotels. :goodvibes

Thanks so much for all your replies :goodvibes I am going to wait until October 1st to do anything because I am hoping for some sort of discount...but with spring break it may just be wishful thinking on my part. Anyway, if we do end up switching it seems as though either resort is a good choice! Our very first on site stay was at CBR in 2003, but we were not there for that long and did not explore the resort at all. We may just end up back there in March...just have to wait and see what happens (if anything next week).

Oh and spiceycat, thanks for the tip, but we have rented before and while a great way to save a ton of money, I don't like not be able to control the ressie ;)

then might go with CSR - it has queen beds (so does PO) and since it is a convention hotel - if they are having a convention while you are there - that is good. means the hotel will be deserved while these folks are at the convention....

it is a lovely place - as all the moderates are - the swimming pool is a little better.

now it is a BIG resort.

if still to expensive - go with Pop Century!

I'd just pick the resort that is the most esthetically appealing to you. CBR is our favourite mod, but the (only) downside may be that they only have 2 double beds. All of the others have 2 queens. It isn't an issue for us, but it may be for your family.
