Hi, just wondering if anyone's rented dvc points privately before if they could tell me how they paid for them?
Just wondering if you like pay a deposit then the rest nearer to the time you go or what happens? Just thinking about what's to stop someone just cancelling the reservation once they get paid?

Each owner sets their own payment terms. It is very common for owners to ask for 100% payment up front, either before the reservation is made (especially if points need to be borrowed to book the reservation) or soon after. You would need to be comfortable with the owner's terms before moving forward.

As to what is stopping the owner from cancelling the reservation after payment is received? Nothing, other than morals, values, sense of right and wrong, etc.

I have always pay pal- Ed on the phone while checking for availability or after they check avail but prior to booking.

Always non refundable ( this is why I love transferring). Always full amount day of booking.

My points so my terms. My terms are 25% up front, the remainder at 120 days out all non refundable. I don't encourage paypal but if one wants to use it that's fine, just you have to pay the extra fees. I don't do escrow because it's too slanted toward the rented and I"m not going to pay the fees.

I've rented my points out and also rented others points. All of the transactions have been paid for in full at the time of booking/when the confirmation is received. They have also all been nonrefundable transactions.

There is nothing to stop a person from canceling your reservation but if you use common sense with who you rent from then a good bit of risk should be mitigated.
