Help with Rental Car

Hi -

We're first visiting my MIL in Fort Lauderdale and driving up to Disney from there. We're renting our car at the airport in Fort Lauderdale and dropping it off at Orlando after our trip. I've tried many of the code out there to save money, but they don't seem to work with a pickup in one place and dropping off in another. Does anybody have any advice on how I can try to save money? We need at least a full size since we'll have two kids (dd3 DS 5months) and need lots of trunk space.

I'm not positive but in florida it should be ok no drop off fee since it is in state and it happens all the time. you may have to call them on the 800 nbr to have it done. I have rented in orlandoand dropped off in tpa or other cities and we had no drop off fees since it was still in state. florida is different from most of the states.

Have you tried National? If you're a DC member you usually receive god deals.

It sounds like you may have been using Dollar's website. They have had a glitch with that site forever when it comes to picking up and dropping off to different locations within the state of florida. For some reason there system won't recognize that there is not supposed to be an additional charge when dropping off to a different florida location. I have called them more than once and asked about this. They told me to make the pick up and the drop off at the same location (as long as both are within florida) and then tell them at the counter that the drop off had changed. It was no problem. I called a couple of times to Dollar to confirm this and they said the same. Once I made a reservation with Dollar through their 800 number and they made it for a pick up and drop off at the same location and then notated it in the body of the reservation. You can call them to confirm this, but I have had to do it with Dollar each time I have used them in FLA because we usually pick up in FLL or MIA and drop off at MCO.

Thanks for all your help!!! I tried dollar again and the website now works with pick-up at one place and drop off at another!!! It doesn't work for a minivan, but it did work for the fullsize!!! I got a cheaper price at budget, so I think I'll be sticking with them. Anybody use them?? I'm only familiar with Dollar.
