Help with purchasing more points

I spoke to my DVC rep yesterday regarding adding an additional 25-50 points. Unfortunately, they don't have any more points at OKW, which is where I am deeded. He is able to give me BC with my same use year. My only problem is my booking window. If I add these point from BC, then I would only be able to book at OKW with these within 7 months. Is this going to cause a problem for me? Is OKW 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom units usually available within the 7 month window? Do people own from two different resorts and do they find it to be a problem? How do you handle making reservations with owning at two resorts if you want to book within the 11 month window for the one you are deeded at. Also, which resorts seem to fill up more quickly? He told me I would not have a problem with OKW, but I thought I get other peoples view on this. Also, have there ever been additional points available from OKW. My mistake was I should have bought the amount of points I wanted to buy when I did buy, but I bought less. Now I'm paying for it.

1st you could book your weekdays with your okw points 11mths out, and then at 7mths out your weekends staying at okw.
i have planned 2 last min. trips,1 trip 4 days in advance and all they had was okw for my 10 day trip for the second week of feb.2003 and i just called for my 2nd trip for late july and again okw was available for my 10 day stay. and thats only 2 months out. but if you were going during holidays or springbreak then i would stick to the weekdays at 11mths and weekends at 7mths.
just my opinoin;)

From what I've read here, OKW is the easiest of the on-site WDW resorts to book at the 7 month window. In general, unless you want a GV, I do not think you will have much of a problem getting what you want at the 7 month window.

When do you usually travel? I would imagine that there are some times of the year that are more difficult to book than others, even at OKW.

Sorry you aren't able to get points at OKW right now. Have you asked your guide to put you on the waiting list? There have been several reports on this board of people getting OKW points directly from Disney this way. (It may take awhile, though). Also, have you ruled out a resale? Occasionally there are small contracts that come up for sale. Perhaps if you get on one or more broker's lists, you'll eventually find something that meets your needs/wants.

Good luck!

Ask your guide about getting on the waitlist for OKW points. It was my understanding that it would take a really long time to get to the top, but they called three weeks later to offer me points!

We have contracts at VB and VWL, and soon BCV. Since '00, we've had no problems using the 7 month window for non-home resorts. We have been flexible, have not chosen Christmas week or Spring break, but still have had success.

An alternative or enhancement to the great suggestion above by wdwstar would be to book the days you need from your add-on points at the 11-month window there (BCV), then switch (or waitlist if need be) at the 7 month window. You'd at least have a room for all of your stay, and you'd have a real good chance of switching to OKW at that point.

HTH.

We own points at several DVC resorts with OKW being our home resort. We have never had any problems booking in the 7 month window even at BW. Of course I haven't tried to book Christmas week or any other popular week. I have always gotten my request even when I have waitlisted for a room. When OKW first sold out, I added on 50 points from BW which I still own. So sometimes I have to remind MS to use those points when I am making a reservation. Other than that I love having points at several resorts. I say go fo it! :D
