Help with purchasing a Sony

We have the H5 and love it. The flash is a little slower to recycle but it is one of, maybe the, strongest built in flash.

It has a big 3" LCD screen.

Also the battery meter is not accurate. Take small number of shots and it will tell you the battery is low. Just ignore it and keep shooting, you will get a large number of shots. Be aware that the AA rechargable batteries will have to be recharged about 3-5 times to reach their full capacity. This applies to all AA rechargeable batteries. It is a good practice to carry spares. I also have a set of AA lithion batteries as a backup. They are expensive and not rechargable, but they have a self life of 15 years and take around 600 pictures. I haven't used them as I have not drained all of the rechargables and I tend to take lots of pictures.

There is a sister camera, the H2, that is identical except it is 6MP, has a smaller LCD and is about $100.00 cheaper.

I would also look at the Canon s3, Panasonic TZ1, FZ7, and FZ50.

You can see reviews on these and more at www.dpreview.com

Also I have the TZ1 and like that one too. It is a small 10x zoom.

You could get it at Amazon for $100 cheaper.

It is a great camera. Either this or the Canon S3 IS are the best of this type of camera.
