Heading to the Fort tomorrow for Easter weekend and would love to post pictures. I can not figure out how to attach photos when creating a thread. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Use the "Upload a File" button. Then it will allow you to click a link (after uploaded) to show it full size (as opposed to a thumbnail). At least that is what worked for me.

Peg110 is correct. In the lower right portion of your screen (when you are typing a reply) you will see three options: Post Reply, Upload a File, and More Options... Click upload a file and then select the picture from your computer's library. Some pics are too big for upload, so you may need to resize it. I typically resize my pics to about 800x400 or something close which still leaves it plenty big to be seen here on the Boards. What I like to do it open the original large pic and resize it to something smaller, and then resave the smaller pic to a different location (I actually created a new folder under My Pictures called "Disboards Pics". This is where I save my smaller pics to upload here.

Why don't you give it a try on this thread, just post a pic of anything, and we'll see if we can't help tweak the process for you.

For some reason I do not have that option. Only two choices in the bottom right corner: Post Reply and More Options. Is this something (like the Avatar pic) that has to be earned after so many posts? I am on a desk top computer, is that feature only for mobile devices?

What browser and version are you using?

I have it on Firefox 36.0.4 and IE 11.0.16

Are you using a "MAC" or perhaps a cell phone?

I was on my MAC last night and post a couple pics without any problems. Looks like you have enough post maybe the moderators missed adjusting your setting so you can post pics. If it's automatic maybe there was a glitch???

Windows 7 Professional. I have tried Internet Explorer and Google Chrome. My phone is a Motorola Droid, Android operating system. No luck on any.

Is there a way to send the question directly to a moderator or tech support? I am fairly new to DISboards, but since finding it, I can't stay off (I have to admit, I may have an addiction, lol.) so I would love to be able to utilize every part of it.

Click or hover on your DIS user name upper right and select the PREFERENCES link. Is there a check mark in the box next to the option, "Use the Flash-based uploader to upload attachments"?

Bama Ed

PS - assuming you have Adobe Flash installed and working...

Ed beat me to it, that was going to be my next suggestion

Yes, it is checked. I went back to DIS Basics and found an email for support. I will see what that does. Thank you all for trying to help.

The members who are a lot more familiar than I am can answer this unless you already know but I noticed under your avatar it says "registered". I did a quick search in some of the other threads and did not find any others with that distinction? Maybe it means nothing? Most have "Earning my Ears" for us newbies to Mouseketere, to DIS veteran etc.

**Edit** I noticed some have custom saying so it probably has nothing to do with your issue.

I did notice in the DIS Basics that it said something about "registered" that I may not have completed my registration, but I am not sure what else to do. So frustrating:guilty:.

The alternative is to use a Photobucket account (as I still do) which was how we had to post pix the last many years until we got the new forum software this year. You create a PB account, then you can create a folder for each trip or event. Upload the pix to PB using their instructions, copy the IMG link for the photo you want to use in a DIS post, and paste the link reference exactly as-is in your reply box. EXACTLY as-is.

Maybe that will get you by until you get this Upload thing worked out.

Wow, you can tell I am getting a lot of work done today. That's what happens when you have to go to work the day before going to the Fort, lol. Bama ed, I think I will try your way if I do not get any answers from Tech Support.

Test failed! When I tried it, I got an error message "Uploads not allowed". I give up!>:(

OMG, not even sure what I did, used one of those icons next to the "smiley" face and it worked. This is at Highlands Hammock State Park. Now lets hope I can do it again after this weekend's Fort trip.

Dude, not pretty but it works.

I have no clue about Shutterfly. I use Photobucket which is what I described above. However when I clicked your shutterfly share link, saw the one photo, and clicked it to view full screen, i saw the pic above.

Then I opposite clicked the mouse and chose "Copy Image Location".

Back in the DIS reply window where the menu reply icons are, just to the right of the smiley face is one that looks like a postcard. Click it and paste the Image Location link and then click Insert.

This is the old, OLD way to post photos.

PS - happy to share a few tricks
