Help with painting princess room!

I am making a princess-themed room for my 2 girls and I need some help with a painting technique I would like to try. I have purchased two shades of pink in Disney colors, a lighter pink and a darker pink. I would like to paint the top half of the room in the lighter shade, and the darker half of the room in the darker shade. I want to blend the colors so there is not a defined line between the halves, but so they fade into each other. Sort of like a 'sunset' effect, but with pink.

Does anyone know a good way to do this? I know I have seen it done on Trading Spaces, but their website is useless, and since people on the DIS know everything, I was hoping someone here could give me some pointers!

I know exactly what you are trying to accomplish... however I don't know how to get there. Sorry! I hope one of our talented DISers will help you out.

I would get a separate tray or can to mix the paint into. Start with the lightest color at the top as you said, then mix a bit of the darker color in to the separate tray/can. I'd go with a sponge roller to blend the edge between the shades. Keep adding the darker shade untill it is the dominant color. I haven't done this on a wall just canvas and paper. You should get the same effect. Just keep the changes in color very light.
