Our next trip will be December 2020 - I know it may be mild weather - but I get cold easily. I am looking for brands, or ideas of light weight or easily pack-able WARM :-) clothing options. It is for me, the wife - hubby does not get cold. We are only planning on taking a carry on and staying a week - most of my warm clothing takes up a lot of space. Thank you for any and all suggestions! :tink:

For stays November through April, layers are your friend.

I agree, bring light layers. If you think you will need a heavy jacket, wear it instead of packing it. Wear heavy jeans that you can layer leggings or other lightweight clothes underneath if necessary. Wear as many of the heavier items as you can to save space in the suitcase.

Typically December is not as cold as January or February, but we have had the occasional frosty snap, and even snow flurries. Gloves, hat, and even some sort of scarf can come in handy if that happens.

Great advice! Thank you!

I like bringing Merino wool clothing for travel. It doesn't retain odors like most clothing so you can wear it a couple times without washing.
I have had good luck with brands like WoolX, Woolly, Smartwool, and Icebreaker.

My favorite travel pants are the PrAna Briann pant. These pants can be washed in your hotel sink at night, hung to dry and are dry the next morning! I LOVE them! If you are looking to save space, these are great because you can bring just one or two pairs and just alternate them throughout your trip.

Oh, and if you are very concerned about cold, look for a packable jacket. I have a Patagonia micro puff that really keeps me warm, but folds down and packs into it's own pocket. Patagonia is a little pricey but sometimes you can find a previous year's color on clearance somewhere (that's how I got mine!) or you can look for other brands. Costco will usually have packable jackets starting in the fall.

Oh my goodness! I LOVE all your information! I am taking notes. I appreciate your help!

I’m a heavy packer, especially for our November/Dec. trips. I’m also always cold!! So at night, I typically layer a tank top, tee shirt, sweatshirt or sweater, and a light jacket or zip up hoodie. I also pack capris and jeans, because you truly never know. The nights were Freezing this past trip... our friends teased me because of my excessive layers (yeah I had more shirts on than I wrote above), but I wasn’t the one complaining I was cold at the end of the night!!! Have fun!

ETA my clothing packing list for November:

-Disney shirts/sweatshirts
-shorts/capris/jeans
-tanks/tees
-dressy outfit (2)
-sweaters/sweatshirts
-bathing suits/cover ups
-sneakers/sandals/boots/dressy shoes

The fall/winter struggle is real :rotfl2:

When we go in December, we travel wearing a fleece-type jacket with a rain jacket over it and a long sleeved shirt and jeans. That gives us heavier clothing if it gets colder but doesn't take up suitcase space and we are at least wearing something warmish when we get home even though we're just going from the airport to the airport transportation to home. But I'm always worried about breaking down on the highway and having to wait in the cold (even though logically I know that the airporter service would send another car - I just can't seem to tell my brain that). I have started wearing Icebreaker jackets with full zip (I usually buy from their website or Amazon although there is also a store close to me but with limited product). You can get ones that are quite lightweight and warm but that don't make you too hot, help to cut the wind because they're made with merino wool and with a zip opening, you can adjust for airflow but still keep your arms warm. They are machine washable and won't shrink when washed. We bought the 200 weight jackets which are perfect for those chilly Florida nights but aren't too heavy.

We then pack a mixture of short and long sleeved shirts. We usually pack lightweight, but not too lightweight, khaki-type pants. This pretty much gives us the option of different types of layers, warm weather clothing, and rain wear with minimal heavy items being packed.

Oh, I am so thankful to hear I am not the only one struggling with fall/winter packing. :-) Thank you for your info!

I probably go a little overboard, but I’d rather have a little of everything! Good luck and have fun!!

I like: darks and neutral colors, fleece that I layer, and a foldable jacket that doubles as rain gear/wind breaker. I look for: hoods (that tie!), zippered pockets, hidden pockets/big pockets.

If you are looking to conserve luggage space: socks, gloves, and hats/winter headbands - are very helpful. I just bring the super-cheap magic gloves in case I lose one.
I also pack a scoop of powdered laundry soap- if you can still find it.

You can also wear layers when flying, if you are.

For brands, one I love right now is Uniqlo. They have many Disney themed items, and are overall reasonably priced.

Still one more option to consider: a trip to either the outlet mall or Disney Springs. In DS, there's a huge Uniqlo store, with a wide selection of items. T-shirts run $15 or less. They have a line called "AIRism.' that is meant for layering. It is super light and compact, and they make easy washable AIRism underwear. They also have a new thermal version of AIRism, but I haven't tried the thermal version.

Bonus- if you have an AP, you get 10% off at many DS stores. (but not Uniqlo)

I also always pack multiple tank tops. If rolled, they take up little space, and don't wrinkle. This year, I haven't found ones I love as much as in past years, but Target, Aeropostale, and Old Navy/Gap come to mind as places that are sometimes good places to find them.

For higher quality stuff, sometimes LLBean has sales.

If you are going to Universal, they sell HP themed knit scarves. Additionally, the HP robes are crazy $$$ (over $100), but they are long+have a hood, and do provide some warmth.

Inexpensive leggings can be warn solo or as an underlayer.

Thank you for all the useful information!

Pack light layers of underarmor tops that help regulate body heat so you are both warm and cool when needed.

I find layers the best way to go. I usually go over thanksgiving or November and typically take a lot of golf pullover/sweaters and light or heavier jacket on the plane depending on the forecast.

Thank you! Can you let me know what you mean with golf pullover/sweater, I'm not sure I know what those are. Thanks so much for your help!!

The pullovers I’m referring to are what you would typical see golfers wear when it gets a little colder. They are typically 1/4 zip up pullover. They are similar to wool sweaters, but can be thicker and usually made of synthetic material. Some can be fleece lined as well. I play a lot of golf, so I will usually take 3-4 with me to Disney over the holidays depending on the forecast.
