We are staying in NYC this Sunday night after visiting family in NJ for Christmas. Traveling with our DD16 who has never been there.

We will be staying at the Courtyard Marriott Midtown which is located on 3rd Ave. between 52nd and 53rd St. We are mostly interested in all of the Christmas-y tourist things: Window displays, shopping, Rockefeller Center, etc.

Looking for help with a great pizza place nearby (bagels also). Really only interested in what I can do within walking distance (we are great walkers!)

Anything else we should attempt to see or do?

Tomorrow night? There is a lot of snow falling right now but I guess it may be all shoveled making it walkable by tomorrow night. You are in a great location, just walk west to 5th Avenue. You can see St. Patrick's, Rockefeller Center, the Saks windows (I don't think they're all that impressive this year but you will be right there). In the evening is the lit up snowflakes to music on the front of Saks every 15 minutes or so. If you are brave you might want to skate, it might not be as crowded if it is cold and yucky out.

You can walk down 5th Ave to the Lord & Taylor windows. If you really don't mind walking head to Macy's on 34th St and Broadway for the windows.

As for the pizza and bagels, I only know the good places either further uptown or downtown, nothing there in the middle.

Have fun!

Tiffany's, Trump Tower, Central Park, FAO Schwartz, The Apple Store, Top of the Rock, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Radio City Music Hall, Diamond Way, Times Square, Empire State Building, Grand Central, to name a few, all easy walks from your hotel. Have a sandwich at Carnegie Deli.

Make sure you visit the Disney store! I think it's on 56th? I'm not 100% sure. But it's closing at the end of the month. And the good part about it is that it's the only one out of Disneyland and WDW that sells park merchandise as it's owned (for something) but actually Disney. Not that the Disney stores in the mall aren't but it's like a different department or something. And all the NYC stuff in the store is all clearance.

Also, here's a little tip I normally tell everyone... if you have to use the restroom, most hotels have them in the lobby (or just off the lobby). ;) For example in Times Square, the Marriott Marquis is where I go if I need to go. (I'm in the city quite often) Just go inside, go up to the 8th floor (that's where the lobby is) and there's a bathroom right there. Quite clean too. Also! There's a Starbucks up there. It's pretty inside, it's hollow so you can see straight up. When I was younger I used to take the elevators ALL the way up to the top floor and come back down and *hope* that no one stops the elevator. It's really fun. (What can I say? I was a bored kid.)

Oh yes, my friends and I have been using the hotel bathrooms since high school. One of the moms told us that secret. I like to check out the most expensive hotels facilities.
