Help with moving info

Hi all,
DH just accepted a job offer and we have to move to Alconbury in 2 weeks Can anyone please tell me what to expect? we have never been to the UK before. (in Germany with military for past 6 years and originally from FL.) What about schools for children? We have dd5, dd3, and dd1. And what is the house market like there now... how much are houses/flats there??

Gosh 2 weeks that doesn't give you much time does it? I bet however being a military family you have to get used to it.
I have had to check on Google where Alconbury is but as I live in the Midlands I can't help you with house prices. Do a search on Rightmove and put in the area where you are looking for with the other relevant info i.e. prices you are looking at and number of bedrooms and it will come up with houses for sale and more importantly the prices.
Re schools your eldest will go to either an infant school or a primary (where there is an infant and junior school in one. You will need to register with the local council and they will be able to tell you which schools are in your catchment. Your 3 year old will be able to go to the local nursery for 5 sessions per week for 2 and a half hours per session. This is free and paid for with vouchers. Your little one will be able to attend private nursery if you wished but this is sometimes pricey and will have to be funded by yourself.

If I have found the right Alconbury it is in Cambridgeshire and the house prices look very good comapred to the South East where I live!

This looks like a nice house for your family size, small by general US standards though. Or there is this house which is bigger and has the detached double garage.
