I was looking for discounts for the NC Zoo and this Living Social site came up. It has tickets for half price. I was wondering if anyone has used this site and if it is legit. I have bought Groupons before, but havent seen this. Here is a link to what I am looking at

Its a great deal, I just want to make sure I wont lose money if it isnt a legit site. Thanks

Ugghh...it says "deal over" on the page and I didnt notice that. Oh well, I guess I could still see if anyone has used it for the future or if anyone knows of any other discounts on the NC Zoo. Thanks

Love living social. I have bought many deals from them. Similar to groupon.

Thanks for that info. Im not sure why I have never heard of it...as I have bought Groupons, but good to know for the future. I just wish that offer was still available:worried:

We've used LivingSocial and GroupOn with much success.

Sometimes you have to be quick though!

We've used living social from time to time and never had a problem. In fact, I even bought that deal, but the deal is gone now? It was actually posted a few months ago, unless they repeated it.

Yes, I think it said posted in March. I just didnt notice the date since I had googled "discounts for NC Zoo" and it was one of the first choices to click on. I see you are in NC. Do you know of any other discounts available for the zoo?

Do you have a membership at any of the zoos where they have a reciprocal agreement? Here is the list:

Another endorsement for Living Social and Groupon. Our local paper offers Dealsavers, which is much more localized. Maybe yours has something similar?

One more vote in support of both LivingSocial and Groupon. Great deals to be had.

I would expect that with something like the zoo, the deal may be repeated from time to time, especially during their slower seasons, so be sure to sign up and you'll get a daily e-mail with the current offers. They also both have smartphone apps.

You can also look into reciprocal memberships that offer entry to both aquarium and zoo's.

For Christmas, as a family gift, I gave all of my children's family a membership to the aquariums and in turn they can utilize the free admissions to a number of zoo's and places around the US.

I believe it is 60.00 for one year. I don't know if that would be something you are interested in but it more than pays for itself if you are near locations that you can utilize during the year.

Reciprocal programs rock!

We keep a membership to the National Zoo. Although the zoo is free in DC, parking is $22 a pop.

We go enough that the parking fee adds up. Plus when we are traveling we look and see who has a reciprocal agreement.

This past May we were in Spartanburg for a conference and took a little side trip to the Greenville Zoo. Small zoo, but still, it was SO nice to have something to do to kill some time that didn't cost. As a family of 7, things add up quickly!

Just be careful with the reciprocal program - For example, if you have a family membership to the NC zoo that covers 2 parents and their children under 18, regardless of if you have 1 child or 10. However, if you take that membership to a reciprocal site, the membership only covers 2 adults and 2 of their children - you have to pay admission for any additional kids. Great program, you just need to be aware of that.
If you are close enough that you think you may visit the NC Zoo twice within 12 months, it may be worth purchasing a membership.
If you are a member of AAA, you can get a $10 discount on membership. (You can get the same discount a few other ways too - Google it.) If membership doesn't make sense, you can also get $1 off each admission with AAA.
If you subscribe to the N&O newspaper, they have an offer for subscribers that is buy one adult admission, get one child's admission free.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will check the list!
