I was about to start linking our tickets that we bought from undercover tourist, but i just wanted to review the steps before i link and possibly screw something up.

We are a party of 7, I already have my AP, then we have 5 other adult tickets and one child to add.

I saw the part where i can link my tickets and assign to each person-but we are doing a split stay so the first 3 nights in 2 studios (split 5 in one room and 2 in the other) then the next 4 days is in a 2 BR. We have 7 days of tickets.

How do i know if the tickets are link to our first studio reservations? I want to make sure this part is correct so i have the earliest FP day.

I don't want to go ahead and be stuck in the process without answers.

Tickets don’t link to hotel reservations.

Tickets link to your MDX Profiles and it’s the ticket entitlements (7) that allow FP booking for your 7 days of park visits. So, link the tickets to the correct people and you are good to go.

How does it know you are onsite (and therefore can book FP+ 60 days in advance) vs offsite (30 days in advance)?

It’s the magic of the My Disney Experience software. pixiedust: ;)

It’s the hotel coding that opens up the booking window.

PP is correct. Your tickets are assigned to a person, not a hotel room.

Just a word of caution as I was not aware of this on our last split stay. Is that if you're on DDP, your meal entitlements will zero out at the end of your checkout day. So any snacks, TS/QS that you may have been saving to use later in the trip will not be zeroed out at the start of your second reservation.

I'm in need of a bit more clarification -
The hotel reservation number opens the FP+ booking window.

The tickets themselves - assigned to a person - enables a FP to be obtained.

So FP linked to ticket
Ticket linked to a person
Got it - but...
Hotel reservation linked to a ticket? A Person? Anything?

It seems like we have to be careful to assure we everyone's ticket in MDX in order to get FP+ - makes sense.

But still not clear on how it knows EACH of those tickets are associated with a stay on property. And that the hotel reservation is in fact for the days we try to get a FP+ 60 days out.

For example - let's say I have a 7 day hopper, I'm staying at the Beach Club for 4 of those days and then off site for the other 3. I should only be able to get FP+ 60 days out for the 4 BC days. I should have to wait another 30 days to get them for the other days.

Further - what if there are 9 people in my party - we have several rooms reserved. Do I need ALL those confirmation numbers in MDX - and then link individuals to them? Can I have only one number and link all 9 to that (even though it's obvious we're not all staying in that one room)?

These are seemingly vital details that I cannot get answers to on any site / FAQ list. When we hit 60 days out, I don't want to be fiddling with an app trying to get it all right - and then miss the FPs I want because it took so long to get it right.

The ticket is not linked to the hotel reservation.

People in your party are linked to MDX.
Onsite hotel reservation, with listed guests, is linked to MDX.
Ticket is linked to MDX.
MagicBand is linked to MDX.

In @mesaboy2 ‘s FP FAQ, there is the Split Stay section that explains Split Stays. I did write that section so I will just refer you to it.

This seems complicated. Are you making multiple room reservations under your own name or is each room in your party under a different person? I think you can only link room reservations under your own name to MDE.

When we traveled with multiple people in multiple rooms a couple years ago, each adult set up a MDE account and took care of FPs themselves and linked their own room reservations. You can book FPs for others, but they have to be linked under your "Friends and Family" tab.

And you're correct that if you are on site, you can only reserve 60 days out for those 4 days. You're considered "checked out" at that point. You'll have to wait the 30 days to make FP if you're staying offsite. You just have to have valid tickets for the days you're off site and they will let you book FPs.

The 60-day FP booking window rolls forward and covers each day of the offsite stay.

Anyone with an onsite stay never has to wait for a 30-day FP booking window whether the offsite stay is before or after an onsite stay.

Please see the Split Stay section in the FP FAQ Sticky... onsite to offsite Stays are explained there.

Sorry I'm being dense - and making things more confusing than necessary with the split stay part, which doesn't apply to me. Just trying to be helpful to the person in that situation.

Here is our exact situation.

9 people. Six nights onsite. Two reservation numbers at the Dolphin (Executive Suite with connecting room - times 2). One person under 3 so no ticket needed.

OK - we have both reservations in MDX. So far we have 4 of the necessary 8 tickets in there. Obviously we will get the other tickets in there before May (trip is in July).

From your response - I now have these questions:
1. Apparently we need to have all 8 people in MDX and all 8 tickets assigned appropriately. Do they all need to "accept" the invitation via email, or can they simply be listed?
2. Do all 8 people need to be associated with the reservations? If so, each one to only one of the two reservations we have?
3. Can we get by with only one reservation number and assign all 8 people to it (even though it's impossible for all of us to be in this one suite/room combo)?
4. There is no way for the app to know if any / all of the people I link to a reservation are actually staying there, right? I see a loophole -but I think pointing it out violates the terms of the forum. We ARE all legitimately staying at the Dolphin for the entire stay - but if I need to delete this line I understand.

We messed up the trip details in the app. My son set up his reservation with one confirmation number and then invited me to join. I then set up mine - only to have inadvertently assigned some of the same people to my confirmation number. We need to get that straight and before calling tech support I want to be sure I know the implications.

Thanks MUCH for your help!

I read your sticky which is really interesting! Thank you for that! But are you saying that if you have a 4 night stay at a resort onsite, you're able to make FP's for days outside of that as long as you have tickets and book them before checking out of the onsite room?

Offsite days after the onsite stay can be booked via the rolling 60-day window.

Offsite park days prior to the onsite stay can be booked as soon as the 60-day Window opens as long as your tickets are separately linked... no onsite “package.”

And yes, when you are at WDW, you can check your FP booking window and it will be open for 60 days... great if you have another offsite stay soon with more tickets linked. :)
