DH and I are taking my parents to Las Vegas for 2 nights after Thanksgiving weekend. We are staying at Caesar's and seeing Celine Dion (my mom's pick) one night. The other night we are going to see Danny Gans (my dad's pick)at the Mirage. My mother can't do much walking so I'm wanting to book dinners to make it easy for her to get to the shows after we eat. Can anyone recommend what would be best at either of these hotels? DH and I usually stay at Bellagio and eat there (love love love Picasso's) but I don't know about these hotels. We are all adventurous eaters except I cannot eat anywhere that has live lobster tanks.

Any suggestions on where I should make reservations?

If you'd be willing to try a little venture across the street in a cab or so, I'd recommend going to Emeril's Steak & Seafood Restaurant in the Aladdin. I had a six course meal there 4 years ago that I'm still comparing others to! LOL. Other then that, the Palace has a great buffet that I've enjoyed right in the casino. Try there for an informal and quick one.

Um....there is no "Emeril's Steak & Seafood Restaurant in the Aladdin". Emeril has Delmonico Steakhouse at the Venetian and Emeril's New Orleans Fish House at MGM Grand. Not sure which one you meant.

Venetian is right across the street, MGM is across and aways south.

If you eat at Picasso's, it's tough to find something that compares :) But we try.

Personally, and I can't put my finger on why, I've never really liked anything at the Mirage (except a quick bite at CPK, but I assume that's not what you are looking for.) However, Onda has been getting rave reviews. In that neighborhood, I tend to eat at the Forum Shops restaurants, which are convenient for both CP and the Mirage. The food at BOA is wonderful; the atmosphere is a bit "trendy" for my tastes, but if you can get a table on the balcony the view is spectacular. Spago's an old favorite you can't go wrong with. And a lot of folks like Joe's Crab.

We stayed at Caesar's last year and ate at the Mesa Grill (?) there. It is Bobby Flay's restaurant and was really good. You have to try the margaritas there....they are heavenly!!!! Make sure you get ressies though. We had them but something got mixed up and we still had to wait 45 min. But we sat at the bar and had the above mentioned 'ritas so all was good!!;) Not cheap though.

There's no Aladdin, either, it's now Planet Hollywood.

Since you're already at Caesar's, Rao's is very good, lots of atmosphere. Reservations, sometimes hard to get, sometimes much easier if you're flexible.

Caesars has the advantage of being attached to the Forum Shops with restaurants such as The Palm, Spago, Chinois, Joe's Stone Crab and others. There's also The Cheesecake Factory and Planet Hollywood. In the property, the Mesa Grill mentioned earlier is a great (and expensive) place, as is the Bradly Ogden restaurant. If your mom has trouble walking, The Palm or Spago may be your best choice as they are closer to the casino, within the mall.

At The Mirage, there are two steak restaurants, Stack and Kokomos. There is the Onda Italian restaurant mentioned earlier; and the Samba Brazilian rodizio restaurant. But my personal favorite is Japonaise. DH and I ate there back in April and it was JUST DIVINE. If you want less pricey, there is CPK, their coffee shop and buffet, and also the Carnige Deli. Good Luck!

(and I sincerely hope Celine doesn't cancel on you.)

Thank you for your input. We decided to go with Onda and Mesa Grill. DH and I usually eat a bit more upscale than this but I hope my parents will enjoy. My mom is Italian and that's why I selected Onda, otherwise we would try Japonaise. Maybe next trip! As for Celine, I hope she doesn't cancel either. DH and I saw her show a year ago and enjoyed it; this trip here is for my mom to be able to see her. I would be crushed if it were cancelled. We didn't get as good as seats as we had originally booked because she did cancel our first date choice and by the time I rebooked, I couldn't get quite as good of seats.

I had lunch at Mesa Grill for a job interview once. The food was wonderful. I sneaked a look at the bill when the person I was with signed; and it was $85 for 2 people for lunch. Hope you have fun!

Just wanted to post a quick update after our return from Las Vegas regarding our food while there.

We had lunch at Spago, breakfast at Bouchon, dinner at Onda and dinner at Mesa Grill.

Bouchon was excellent and will return there again on next trip, probably will try dinner there. The other places were okay but since we go to Picasso's each trip, it's really hard to do something less than that. It's always fun to try something new though.

And Celine was there, put on a great show. My parents had a wonderful time.
