Help with II ideas, please

Okay, leaving for SSR GV surprise trip with 13 family members Jan 25. Have done the planning, made the ressies, going absolutely crazy waiting!

Need to start thinking about the next trip, likely 09.

We've decided to try something non-park. But every time we do that, we wind up back at the parks with someone else who really "needs" us to help them experience everything fully. Of course, it takes little persuasion on their part!

Our kids will be 11, 11, & 10 in two years (that sounds so old!) and we are thinking about an II trip. Any suggestions? We've thought about skiing somewhere...

We are an outdoorsy MN family that enjoys activity, but I also love hanging at the beach, especially in the MN winter. We were thinking maybe HH or VB... this will be in March.

Any favs?

It is unlikely that HH would be balmy in March--it could be warm or chilly--but do you want to fly all that way to wear coats on the beach?. I would choose VB for MArch.

For March, VB would be a much better choice than HH but both are viable, esp HH for late March. For II, you may consider a beach resort such as some of the top Marriott's, Caribbean, MX and HI. Or possibly a ski option (esp earlier March) such as Utah, Whistler, Tahoe or CO. Part of the issue is that you have almost no control for the non DVC options. Of course you could try for as many options as your comfortable with and let fate make your final decision. IMO, the unit size you need will affect the best choices as well, in this situation you'll need a 2 BR for almost all resort choices. Most resorts are far more hard line on the unit occupancy than is DVC. If your looking to use FF miles, that will further complicate your planning and decisions. Options like making a DVC reservation at your home resort at 11 months out and then trying HH or VB at 7 months out while looking for an exchange can give you the most safety and flexibility. That way you could schedule air fare when the time came and still have flexibility. It would be preferable to be looking for any exchange 13-14 months out but certainly by 12 months out.

The only stranger things kidswise would be our four...in 34 months. HH and VB are phenomenal you will enjoy both resorts.
