Help with HS tour plan

My fast pass day is on Dec. 31st. We will be visiting HS on March 4th and have two boys who are Toy Story and Star Wars fans. I also just read the Runaway Train ride opens on that day and ODS is a huge train fan. Feeling doubtful we will be able to ride it on opening day plus everything else... but what is the best strategy here? We would like to do Slinky Dog, Rise of the Resistance, Millenium Falcon, Jedi Training and Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway train. SD is the only FP I can get ahead of time correct? How do I prioritize signing up for everything else? We are able to arrive to the park as early as necessary and stay until close as well. Thanks!

I'm going on the 4th too and as things stand my plan is to FP SDD, take an Uber/Lyft from the hotel at around 5:15, hopefully get a boarding group for Rise of the Resistance and rope dropping Mickey and Minnie's RR. If that looks too insane I'm jumping ship to TSMM/Aliens, and then leaving Smuggler's Run for the afternoon (I'm going solo so single rider makes my life easier there), and maybe Mickey/Minnie just before park close if it doesn't work out in the morning. That's of course assuming they don't pull a boarding group situation for that ride.

In your situation I'd maybe rope drop Smuggler's Run and sign up for Jedi Training in the morning? I have no idea how that works but from what I've read it's no longer that busy. And then leave Mickey and Minnie to park close.

Oh wow, my family has March 4th planned at DHS as well. It will be so crowded that day! Our other park days are all planned out with ADRs, so no switching days. Guess we'll just have to go with the flow and hope for the best. Ugh!
