HELP!!!! I'm going crazy trying to find a nice hotel that's near the Rogers Center. We're coming up from NY to see the Yankees play the Jays in August and I'm looking for a hotel nearby. It will be me, DH, DS9, and DS5. I'm not familiar with Toronto at all and am very confused as to where I should and should not be looking. I almost tried Priceline but am very leary. Suppose they get me a hotel that I don't want? I need your help. :confused3 I need someone who's familiar with the area and can give me some pointers. We won't have time to see any other sites, just the games.

Also, at the games, would you rather sit in the outfield or in the first mezzanine(200's) to see a game? We could get a package deal(all 3 games) in the outfield for the same price for 1 game in skyclub level 200. What would you do? :confused3

Thanks for all your help.

Holiday Inn on King Street. Great location ~ only two blocks from Rogers Centre (Skydome)

talicskai - It's nice to see someone else who can't sleep up at this unGodly hour. Thanks for the suggestion....I just tried the Holiday Inn website and they're booked for the dates I need. Where next? I will keep trying though. Maybe someone will cancel at the Holiday Inn.

Thanks.

There is also the Sheraton right across from City Hall. There is a Mariott by the Eaton Centre, but will have to check, since they change the names a lot!LOL

There is another one but it's name escapes me at this time. Will find me map at work and post again.

Definitely choose the the 200 level seats. They're great. I won't sit anywhere else. Plus they're cushioned seats.

I would choose the 200 level seats as well. There is more space and like was mentioned before they are cushioned! :cool1:

As for hotels there is the Renaissance which is attached to the dome (don't know rates though). And there is the Intercontinental which is on the corner of Front and Simcoe St. about a three minute walk from the dome and just across from the Skywalk. Also there is the Fairmont Royal York on Front St. across from Union Station, about a ten minute walk from the dome. Hope this helps.

The Royal York is nice because it is very old and has some history. It is also a ten minute walk in the other direction from the Hockey Hall of Fame and St. Lawrence Market. And just behind Union Station is the Air Canada Centre. You can also take the GO train from Union to the CNE if you are here when it is open. Also beside the Rogers Centre is the CN Tower and across the street is the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation building.

I hope you enjoy your trip to the good old city of TO. :Pinkbounc

Thanks everybody. I'm going to go for the 200 seats. The hotel, I'm still working on. I can't wait to come to CANADA. I've never been. Closest I got was about 25 years ago when we went to the NY side of the falls. See you in August!!!!

We like to stay at the Westin Harbour Castle or if you have kids The Delta Chelsea (it is a little further away) but it has water slides!

Anyone else find the Rogers Center confusing?? It is the Sky Dome to me and likely always will be!

An often forgotten hotel in the Rogers Centre area is the Radisson Plaza Hotel Admiral. It's right on the waterfront, which will be really nice during the summer particularly with the activities that are going on down in Harbourfront. It is a relatively new hotel, compared to some of the others downtown. It is probably no more than a ten minute walk to the stadium. I've never stayed there but people who I know have stayed there have liked it.

Everything else being equal, the 200 club level seats are better and the concessions are not as crowded but some of them do go pretty far out on the baselines. If you are a big baseball fan, I would take three tickets in the outfield provided that the seats were not covered by the overhang of the 200 level outfield seats and you could still get a good a view of the scoreboard. I can't believe how inexpensive the 500 level seats are these days. The seats really aren't that bad, particularly if you can get something between the baselines in the first few rows.

Well everybody already suggested great hotels!

There is also a hotel that is located on the Esplanade. It's across the street from the Spagetti Factory which is a fun place to eat!

The Fairmont Royal York is nice but on the pricey side but very nice.

There is also the King Edward but also pricey but really nice!

Try to stay as close to the Downtown core as possible, that way everything is within walking distance!

There are also hotels in the Yorkville area where there is great shopping!

Also check out www.toronto.com

Let us know if there is any other information you require.

OK...I just got off the phone with a nice young man from the Blue Jays box office and I took 4 tickets to the entire Yankees' 3 game series (Aug 5-7th) on the field level green seats (130C on the 3rd base side). :cool1: Hope I did the right thing. I know my son will be soooo excited if he catches a foul ball. :rotfl:

Now, just to pick a hotel. The Holiday Inn on King St. is booked. I called them and they said that a convention is in town that weekend. Darn it!! I will check out the suggestions you just gave me. Thanks for all your help. I love these boards.

Thanks everyone.

The Novatel is a great hotel. We stay there all the time when in T.O. I personally would of went for the tickets in the outfield. A great place to watch the game

OK....I just booked 2 nights with the Courtyard Toronto Downtown Marriott. I got a good price of $189 CAD/night which includes a hot breakfast buffet for all of us each morning. The woman said that they are approx. 2 miles away from the Roger Centre (Sky Dome)...I hate when they change the name. Where was I? Oh yeah, we figured if we are going to spend that kind of money, we may as well get something out of it. We are Marriott Rewards holders. So thank you so so much for all your help. I did look at the hotels that you suggested, but we thought this suited us for what we were looking for. You guys are the best. :disrocks:

Oh, one more...maybe I could just sneak this one in there.

ciniagara....We were thinking of stopping one night on our way home at Niagara Falls. What would be your suggestion for a hotel there? Thanks.

Good Choice!

You can walk to the Sky, I mean Rogers Centre, and if it's the hotel I'm thinking, it's very close to Eaton Centre for Shopping! Good Eats inside too!

Mr. GreenJeans is a fun place but get there early or could be a wait. City Grille?, underneath where GreenJeans is good and if they have their specials, good deal!

There is a bunch of good restaurants along the theatre district too!

Have Fun!

Hi TiggerIN NY

There are a couple of Marriott's in the falls. There is a new Courtyard right beside the New Casino. That is right beside the falls. There also is one on Clifton Hill. That is where all the tacky museums and arcades are located. Either one is in a gret location, close to everything. Hope that helps. Niagara Falls is a great place to visit.

Thanks guys. I am so looking forward to this trip. We will be in the middle of a home addition and I think we'll all need to get away for a couple of days. I just hope this particular weekend doesn't fall at a crucial time. I guess I'll take the boys myself. My husband is doing a lot of the work himself. :cool1:

Thanks again. I wrote down your suggestions about restaurants. The Courtyard, from the picture, looks like it's on a corner on Yonge Street. ciniagra===I'll be looking for you at the games. hahha That would be fun.
