This will be our first trip to WDW and as such we are a little bit on over load with all the info out there. We have reservations at the swan and would still like to finish up our trip there but thought we might be able to cut cost to stay somewhere eles for the first part of our trip. Any suggestions would be appreciated. There will be me and my DH and 2 DS ages 5, and 11. Thanks for any and all input.

We have stayed at the Radisson Resort Parkway and were very pleased ( we are very picky when it comes to hotels). The rooms were clean, there was a variety of food available and the location was great. For the price, this was a real find. We plan to stay there again on our upcoming vacation. The rooms I believe are $75.95 right now and you can get a free upgrade to a poolview. Good luck!

Try going to www.wdwinfo.com and use their hotel search engine. Or you may want to try Hotelkingdom.com I've used them several times and have always been pleased with their service. Also try mousesavers for discounts at Disney hotels and local area hotels. mousesavers.com

Consider the Hotel Royal Plaza, one of the hotels in the Downtown Disney area. Very nice ambience.

Right now there is a special thorugh Mousesavers.com (must link to this special from the Mosuesavers site, special good until early october) for $72/night with a free upgrade and kids eat free deal. The restaurant is kind of an upscale diner and is good. There is an $8/night resort fee, so this room would actually be $80/night, but perhaps the kids eat free deal would offset the price a bit.

We've stayed at this hotel 4 times now and have enjoyed every stay.

Good luck,

Beatnik

I prefer to stay on site, so I'd stay at a WDW value resort. Since you have 2 boys, they would probably love ASSp. Depending on when you go, you should be able to stay under $75 a night with either a code or AAA rate. The transportation is great and the theming is fun for kids.

does it have to be a hotel? you could probably get a 2 bedroom condo/villa for about that per night on hotelkingdom.com at Cypress Pointe. it will have 2 bathrooms & 2 bedrooms, the 2nd bedroom would be perfect for your little ones as it only has 2 twin beds. Also, since you said you are looking for a place for the first part of your stay, a condo would be nice because you can do a mid stay washing of clothes since they have washer & dryers in the unit, helping for less to pack for your trip.
You can also try on skyauction & could get a unit for around $250-600 (probably closer to the $250 depending on when you are going) for the week as well, check out some of the threads about skyauction.com. keep in mind tho that condos do not have daily maid service, if you need maid service it is extra per time you request.

Or are you there total for 7 nights, and staying at Swan for part of it??

And what time of year are you going?? Is it in a warmer month so you will be swimming??

If you need a place for 7 seven nights, I would suggest looking into renting a condo at Windsor Palms. That is where I am looking for next Dec./2005. They do have a great pool (no slides or anything though), but we probably won't get to use it. :p You might enjoy all of the extra room in a 2 bedroom condo.....kitchen and washer/dryer. Go to www.villadirect.com (that's just one sight to check them out) and put your info in on the bottom of the page. (Click the more advanced search button and then where it asks location, put Windsor Palms). This sight is neat because you actually look at the condo you will be renting, not "one like this one".

If you just want a hotel room because you won't be in your room long, I might look at Allstars or PoP. For an offsite hotel room, look at www.hotelkingdom.com.

We have only stayed offsite for two nights out of one of our trips (when we were at AllstarMov. the rest of the time). The hotel we were at was a dump!! (DH booked it for a "special". He now gladly lets ME do all of the planning. ;) ) I thought I would never look at off-site again.

But it's hard to argue with all of the money you save and the space you get with off site. Now that we are 5, we can't fit into many of the rooms at WDW.

We weren't planning on going anywhere this year, until I won an auction on skyauction.com. Now we will be in Orlando (not WDW, Univ. one day and a water park) Sept. 4-11 for $220 total for a week at Cypress Point Grand Villas. It's a 2 bed condo with kitchen, washer/dryer..............we are so excited. And that price is hard to beat.

Have fun deciding. I think the planning is almost as fun as going. Almost......:p ;)

We will be there Sept. 13 - 24th. We have our reservations at the swan right now but would like to cut the days in half to save some money. We are considering the All stars movies but don't know how confortable we'll be. I really appreciate all of your opions. Thanks

priceline?
check bidding for travel to try to get a hotel you will enjoy(only try- no guarantees)

travelzoo has specials all the time- you can check their website or sign up for their weekly newsletter

I go with skyauction- got a 2 bedroom condo for about $265 for a week- all taxes included. You can't beat that!

You are going off season, so you should be able to get great deals.

I think there is a code for value resorts for around $55- if you really want to stay on site.

Will you have a car?

There is a great room-only code for September that would put you onsite for less than the S/D rates. I believe the code is AZZ---check on the resorts board for prices people have been quoted.

We will be there the same time as you (but without our kids!). If you are trying to cut costs, if you split between a Value resort and S/D, you could avoid a rental car entirely. If you go offsite, you'll need a rental car for sure, so figure that into your budget.

Good luck! You can't really go wrong...it's WDW!

I like staying on site. You get use of all the transportation, early entry, and E Nights. I'd try All Star Sports or Pop Century. We've stayed at both and would recommend either one. In fact, all of the All Stars are value hotels and you should be able to get them for $75 or less per night with a code. We went to Pop Century last month for $59/night. Try mousesavers.com for codes. Good luck!

Code AZZ will get you any of the value resorts (all 3 All Stars and Pop Century) for $55/night during September. We have stayed at All Star Movies, All Star Music and Pop Century. Will be returning to Pop for a quick weekend in September. New resort, clean rooms....lots of Disney feel. While the rooms at the Swan are indeed gorgeous (stayed there in June for a company event), I really didn't feel that I was at Disney! Kids will love any of the values and it will save you quite a bit of money. Good opportunity to take advantage of these rates! Hope you were able to take advantage of the $139 Swan/Dolphin rate now being advertised here on the DIS boards. Have fun!
