Help With Hoop-Dee-Doo

I have been to HDDR on every trip to WDW. My DD has hiccups for an hour afterwards from laughing so hard. Over the years I've learned a few things along the way...

The food is gut-busting and sits in your tummy like lead but, you can call about 1-2 weeks in advance and request a special menu. Meaning I asked for my DD to have Chicken Nuggets & Mac n' cheese and no problem. If you request a kosher or veggie meal I'm sure it would be honored.

Call as soon as you decide when you are going to WDW. I always book for the first night at WDW. The tables are indeed assigned on first come-first serve and you can book up to 2 yr in advance. I have sat on the balcony and it stinks:mad:

Instead of going to the Ft. Wilderness parking lot catch the bus from the FT Wilderness "Lodge". I have always thought getting to the Pioneer Hall was a major pain. Not so much getting there but when the show was over you have to deal with crowed busses, people being rude, pushing, making stops all through the campground and so on. On my last trip I accidently took a wrong turn and ended up at FWL gate. I politely asked the gaurd "Is there any way I can get there from here instead of getting lost again" and he told me where to park and where to catch the bus (short walk).

After the show got out the busses line up and one bus is designated for the FWL only. About 20 people got on this bus and within 1 min we were leaving the hordes of other people behind waiting for the "parking lot" bus.

I guess it would depend on the gaurd at the gate but I can't imagine a polite smile not getting you in.

Both times we have gone to HDD (once as a couple and once with a party of six) we booked a year in advance and were seated in the front row. I actually was the can-can girl both times I was there! I would like to actually go to the show and be able to finish my dessert!!:earsboy: :earsgirl:

How far is it from the parking lot to Pioneer Hall? Can you just walk there instead of taking the bus? Does anyone have a map of FW?

Thanks,
Krista

We enjoyed Hoop-Dee-Doo about 3 years ago. Made reservations about 4 months in advance and sat right next to the stage. Good show, good food, and expensive. It was verrrry cold in the place. We had heard that before and brought jackets. Some people were covering their kids with the tablecloths to keep warm (really)!

We just got back Sunday - saw Hoop Dee Doo for the first time as a family and LOVED it!! We didn't call for reservations until a week before just to see if there were any openings and to our surprise there were. We are a family of three and were seated in the balcony, but thought our seats were just fine. 2yo DD could see just fine and loved all the dancing and singing. She really LOVED the washboard strumming at the end of the show. Everyone else had exited and she was still beating at that thing!

My DH had been very sceptical about the show and had never wanted to go before, but he said he'd try anything once. Well guess who was singing the "Hoop Dee Doo" song for the rest of our vacation!!!! LOL!

We all really enjoyed the show. Yes, its corny, but its very fun. The audience participation is a riot. The food was tasty especially the chicken. The strawberry shortcake is very good also. They offered DD mac 'n cheese too.

Even sitting in the balcony you feel apart of the show as members of the cast visit the balcony also. They are all very sweet.

We drove over to FW and took a bus to Pioneer Hall. It's too far to walk. When the show let out there were a whole circle of buses waiting to take everyone back to the parking lot. We even lingered in the hall, used the restrooms and the buses were still there waiting. So no need to rush on out and board a bus.

Our cost was a bit under $100.00 for DH and I. DD was free since she is only 2. We also bought the picture package. Was it worth it? We thought so! Are we going to do it again? You bet, I came back and made our reservations for our Oct. trip and we're taking both set of grandparents with us too.

Enjoy the show!
