OK, we have decided to go to calif next May (2012). Our kids will be 10 and 8 then. What are the differences between the 2 DVC places there? Do you rec'd the meal plan??? I was at DL once but in 2001, so it's probably completely different now. Any help would be very much appreciated!!!!!

There is only one DVC option for DVC villas, the Grand Californian. You can, however use DVC points at either Paradise Pier Hotel or the Disneyland Hotel, if the villas are not available for your dates.

Disneyland does not have much of a dining plan. They have dining vouchers. If you spend less than the voucher, you do not get any change back, so unless you plan your meals very carefully, they may not be a good idea for you. It might be a better idea to put some money on a Disney gift card and use that at the restaurants. Also, there are a lot of places to eat at DTD and the nearby Garden Walk that you might like to try. So you might not want to be 'locked' in to anything - depending on your vacationing style.

Call member services and they will help you with your DVC options.
Have a great trip.
