Help with drugs

I would confront them,in a nice way! Just not worth the risk,on our last flight out we had a woman & her partner/husband who had been hitting the "sauce" all the way across the atlantic - she refused to stay in her seat, wear her seat belt, abusive to the airline staff, falling all over everyone.... They both were escorted off the plane, taken into a small room & according to staff would be on the first flight back to UK! Since 9/11 immigration just don't mess around!

This is proberley a very stupid question but you have got me thinking now.
My son has been prescribed a long course of steriods as he is suffering from Collitis.
should we present his vast assortment of prescribed drugs at customs or just show them if we get pulled out :confused3

my son is on a lot of medication one of which is a controlled drug so we got a letter of his GP along with the repeat prescription form and they were fine. we also kept everything in the proper chemist boxes and left filling the dosette box until we got there

as for the initial question my son can't move and is in a wheelchair and I can tell you he got thoroughly searched on the way out. It wasn't a problem but just to let you know that they do do it.

Could you not say oh by the way I got a letter or phone call from the TA and we have to now do ............. like machine readable passports and she was telling me that they are really strict now on drugs etc etc and they are doing bag searches before the luggage goes on carosells and doing ramdom body searches. Its not as if its not true.

Feels so sorry for you as I wouln't be able to look forward to my holiday with thinking about it.

Anyone trying to sneak drugs through has absolutely no chance, those sniffer dogs are unbelievable. We got pulled aside a few years back as a dog identified something suspect in our suitcase. It was actualy an unopened tin of baby food that had pork in it (this was during the foot and mouth time in the UK). How on earth a dog could pick that up through the tin, is amazing.

try to talk to this person those sniffer dogs are very efficent they managed to smell an apple that had been in my nans bag but had been eaten on the plane so drugs that are still in the bag are hardly likely to go undetected

good luck

customs scare me already, I have to go through alone as me and dbf have different names, I wouldnt travel through customs with anybody I thought could have drugs on them. And I would tell the person why as well (I am upfrount)

This must be heartbreaking for you having all this on your mind. :grouphug:
After reading what you said i would be concerned that if they use soft drugs regularly would they be able to cope having nothing at all for the holiday duration, this surely would also affect your holiday as there must be withdrawal symptoms, mood swings etc? also if the person knows that he/she cant take any drugs at all with him, would he then be stupid enough to get drugged up before he got to the airport.
so either taking drugs or not it might affect you and your family holiday in a big way.

not a UKer - just lurking (hope it's ok i'm here) - wanted to offer a suggestion. can you tell a story in front of them - something like you read on here a person getting busted and sent home for drugs - the dogs were all over them in a minute (or whatever). you could say it was the smallest amount of *whatever* they had, they couldn't believe the dogs found it - it was hidden so well (up his butt in a ballon, in a coffee can, whatever you feel comfortable saying). you could then joke to your partner (again, in front of the person you're concerned about) the he'd better not take anything with you guys! again, as a joke, but hopefully they'll get the idea, or it will start a conversation.

and for your own peace of mind, i'd separate myself and family from them as much as possible legally... on all forms, etc.

good luck! not something you should have to even think about!
