Hi Guys - I am looking at changing our already booked Feb 2015 reservation because I know that my kids are going to want to swim in the resort pool and I am afraid it will just be too cold.
So I am looking to change the dates a little bit but I still want to go at lowest crowd levels, best prices, and best chance for discount....

Our choices are
April 12 - April 20
April 26 - May 4
May 10 - May 18 (a plus on this is my sons 5th bday is May 18)

I would greatly appreciate any help and advice on this one....

Thanks
Heather :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

I think you are going to find April 12-20 fairly crowded. Here in CT most districts have spring break around then. We are usually the third week of April, but I'm not sure exactly when it will fall next year, it may be the week ending the 20th, or it may be the week after that (I haven't yet looked at the calendar).

If I personally were choosing among these dates and didn't have to worry about my kid's school calendar, I would choose the May dates. Very few schools are out by then, and all the spring breaks are over for sure.

tHANKS - that spring break info is good to know! i definitely want to avoid those crowds!!!

I'm a May fan, as I'm headed to the world in 13 days. It will be warm enough for the pool. I think southeast kids get out of school around that time so you may want to take a look at that. It's also a little cheaper then April dates, usually. That's due to Easter/Spring break. Crowds are good.

excellent - i definitely want to do the cheaper, lol
my feb dates were excellent BUT the more I thought about it the more I really wanted to be able to use the pool.....especially when we have our down day...

I would say the May dates but it seems kind of mean to make a 5 year old leave Disney World on his birthday. Maybe adjust your dates by a day or two. And if you have more than one kid, think of the implications of spending one kids birthday in Disney and not the others. Or setting the precedent that a birthday will be celebrated at Disney. That could be expensive depending on when the other kid(s) were born.

I'm literally in the same boat as you for next year...

We went January this year, and we'd prefer to go when it's more of a guaranteed temperature. We were thinking February, but I'm not sure about the weather. My other thoughts are first couple weeks of March, or April (avoiding Easter lol). I'm also thinking May. May will probably be what we will do. Crowds are low, it's warm. Unless I decide I can't wait that long :rotfl: But I would go with your May dates!

I hadn't thought about the making him leave on his birthday thing
we went in December this year and each kid had a day that was his/her birthday - so for that day we did all the things that they would want to do i.e. BBB or Pirates League....

There birthdays are only a month apart - April 9 and May 18 ...

I don't know if my DD would be mad if DS had his birthday there - as long as she got to have a day that we called her birthday....

but I might have to adjust the check out day! or he might be happy to wake up there on his birthday - even if he had to leave

ugh soo much stress

the main problem is that I am the payroll person here and can only take certain days off (mainly every other week) so I am limited with choices :(

isn't it exasperating? i am all booked for Feb. but the more i think about it the more i am afraid it will be cold cold cold and we won't want to use the pool which is one of the things i liked about our resort and one of the reasons i booked it, lol!!!

everywhere i read said definitely not after presidents day through easter because of spring break crowds being out of control....so that put me to the second half of april or the beginning of may - but i am not sure price wise this is going to be so good.

so much to think about

Pools are heated to about 80 degrees. It would only be cold getting OUT of the pool. I remember swimming one February and looked up through the steam to see life guard in long sleeves and long pants track suit. Life guard spend most of the time chasing ducks out of the pools.

In February it may be a little too cool for water parks, but would not hesitate to use resort pool.

that might not be too bad then -
i am trying to also figure out what will be the best discount price for our family....it looks like february has had the stay, play, and dine discount or free dining and may has had 5-30% of room only...and I did find one where memory maker was included...

so much to consider.....

Well we are going April 26-May 4th this year (in 4 days!!!)...this will be our 3rd end of April visit. We have had good luck with the crowds and weather.

I'm going the same days!! Usually the end of April, beginning of May has excellent weather.

that's excellent to know!

Any discounts??

We are staying at a moderate resort and they released a 25% discount for our resort in January. We had already booked but were able to apply the discount to our package. Saved about $500!

that's a great discount -

part of my confusion is whether to stay with my Feb reservation which has a good chance of a discount but also a good chance for cold weather ----

or change to may and have better weather but possibly no discount?

it looks like the crowds are going to better for the may date - except the last 3 days.....but UGH - too many vairables, lol

It depends on what is most important to you. If price is most important, stick with February. If weather is most important, go with any of the dates you listed.

I love April for the great weather! It's warm but not too hot or humid.

Do the lovebugs show up in May? They're not horrible, but can be a little annoying.

haha - I think if I knew the answer to that - I wouldn't be in this dilemma, lol!

We went in April for years, it's one of my favorite times to go to WDW because of the weather.

We've never been in February (but we've been in Dec & Jan). We have friends who took their one and only trip in Feb a few years ago and it was cold and rainy all week. They did not have fun.

There's so much to do outside, even just walking through the parks, that I would pick April over Feb every time.
