So hubby and I have decided to graduate from POP to a moderate this next trip. I know about Port Orleans and Coronado Springs, but do the Yacht & Beach Club fall under moderate pricing? Thanks for any help you can provide!

Yacht and Beach Club are deluxe with Beach Club having DVC villas attached.

No, Yaht and Beach Club are deluxe resorts. Carribean Beach is another moderate hotel. I really like Carribean Beach. It's a bit spread out, but if you don't mind the walk or have a rental car, it's a beautiful place to stay.

The moderates are Carribean beach, port orleans, coranado, and old key west
Beach club is a deluxe. Hope this helps! :cool1:

OKW is a DVC resort and definitely not a moderate resort.

OKW is considered a home away from home resort, if you're not a DVC member. I've stayed at all 4 moderates (CSR, CBR, POR and POFQ), and I think they're all really neat.

Mandabella is correct. OKW is far from a moderate resort. They don't use the term "home away from home" resorts anymore. OKW is considered a DVC resort like SSR and BCVillas, not a moderate. Ft Wilderness is considered cabins/campgrounds, not HAFH.

A good rule of thumb is the moderates have exterior corridors while the deluxes are all interior. I think OKW would be the only exception.

plus SSR.

the moderates and values have double (full) beds.

the deluxes have queen beds. Plus all deluxes have a balcony or patio.

the moderates are carribean beach resort, port orlean riverside & port orleans french quarter and colornado springs.

You have to walk outside to get to your room at Poly, GF lodges and CR if you are in a wing.

Thank you thank you many times in straightening out my confusion! Better yet, which do you think is the best resort for us? We are a family of four: DH, myself, DD5, DS16months, will be going *hopefully* early December 2007, and will have a rental car. I have sensed that some resorts are very spread out, but are unsure which and truthfully don't know if that would bother us much since we would not need buses. But I have also heard that a moderate has a water launch to DTD and possibly EPCOT? That would be an added bonus!

Only POR and POFQ have a boat to DTD. No other moderate has boat transportation other than the small boats that you can rent by the half hour. Epcot boat transportation is for the deluxe resorts. But anyone can ride the boat.

Port Orleans French Quarter (POFQ) is the smallest of the mods and a favorite of many (myself included!). It has the boat to DTD (as does Port Orleans Riverside). POR has the advantage of the trundle beds. I think POFQ would be a good choice for you!

But your room door opens to an inside hall in the deluxes. They don't do that at the values and mods. Your door opens to the outside on those.

Yes, but once you get to your building, the corridors are inside.

I think you will find all Mods very pleasant...

Although there are three Mods, there are five distinct themes to choose from:

CBR is island themed
CSR is southwest themed
POR is antebellum South themed- Both Bayou (rustic) and Mansion
POFQ is New Orleans French Quarter themed

I think POFQ would be a great resort for your family.

When you decide you may want to call AAA and ask for a quote and then decide if you want to join AAA. You do not have to book thru AAA to get the AAA rate. Watch for codes and specials on the boards also.
