could someone explain to me the usual form a US wedding ceremony takes :confused3 .

we are from england, one of the main attractions of getting married in the US was that we could customise the ceremony more to our personal needs yet we are so daunted by the choice available.

Kevin Knox our officiant has sent us pages and pages of all the different ceremonies and vow choices we like them all but dont want the ceremony to last forever.

Would really like the emphasis to be on the vows as after all they are the most important part but definately want to include our children from previous relationships and like the idea of the rose ceremony rather than the unity candle as the ceremony is outside is that enought or should we do some more ceremonies?? is it normal to include a blessing of the hands ceremony and a blessing of the rings as well as the vows and other chosen elements?

would really love to include some music and a reading too, what are your ceremonies consisting of and how long should it all take?

just read that all thru i sound as confused as i feel please helllllllllp

We have booked with Kevin Knox too and are spoilt for choice. At the moment we are in the process of picking bits out individually and seeing how they work when we put them back together. (hope this makes sense) The blended family vows really appeal to us too. As he says, the pack is only a guide so just have a play around and see what works for you. After all its your day. pixiedust:

Hi! Im from the UK too, although i am having Rev Jack Dya as my officiant!

He also sent me loads of information, and we have seleced our cermony from the material he gave us and personalised it a little bit. We are using the Unity Candle - we have an outside cermony too.

If you want to read our ceremony your more than welcome! just send me a PM with your email address and i'll send it too you! :goodvibes

A non-denominational ceremony in the USA can take many forms and include a number of established and improvised rituals (blessing of the rings, unity candle, acknowledging parents), music, and readings. I wouldn't hesitate to include your children as this will be so important to you. About the only common denominators that I've noted besides the actual vows are entrance and recessional music. Otherwise, the form is up to you and as you say, you don't want the ceremony to last forever. Most of the wedding ceremonies that I've been to recently have lasted between 15 and 40 minutes.

Best wishes for Disney magic for your happy day and ever after. :cloud9:

We renewed our vows in 2004 and Rev Knox was our officiant. He was very, very helpful.

We had the unity candle at our ceremony (outdoor ceremony at Lake Eola)and had our children blessed as part of the ceremony.

We chose the music we wanted for each part of the ceremony and had it on a CD. We each read a poem to each other as part of our vows and the children composed their own poem which they read.

Rev Knox is really very flexible and is very happy to plan the service exactly as you wish. Why not get your c hildren involved if they are old enough. They can pick which bits they like and will feel more part of the whole day.

Good luck with your wedding and enjoy your day.

Hiya! We're having Rev. Knox on our Sept 19th Wedding. We wrote our own ceremony and vows, with a little adapted from others' ceremonies... Ours is based on a Dr. Seuss poem/ rhyme scheme, and instead of a unity candle ceremony, we're doing a "blessing of the hands," and "Parents' Appreciation Ceremony." It's really cute, really sentimental, and VERY personalized. (It has "The Simpsons" and "Nintendo" references!!! (Perfect for us!!)

HTH!!
