My mother made some ceramic Halloween decorations years ago and they are now mine. The paint needs to be touched up in places - -a few chips. Will acrylic paint work? It doesn't seem like it would. THe items are glossy? Does that sound right? I can post a photo if you think that would help. Thanks for your help.

Were these fired in a kiln? Or did she buy ceramic ornaments and simply painted them?

If you have pictures, that would be helpful. Under where the paint is chipping, is it matte colored, and feel rough, like on the bottom, unpainted part, or is it shiny?

OOooohhh Yeah! THanks for your help. I think they they were fired, maybe my dad will know. She did them at a class when I was a child. I'll check on that and get back to you. THe chipped pieces are very white and feel powdery like the unfinished inside; they are not shiny. I'll get to work on photos and give my dad a call tomorrow.

I can't thank you enough. These pieces mean a lot to me.

yes acrylic paint will work on them..then make sure you go over the entire piece with a clear coat.
