Hey everyone,
My Husband and I are considering buying a 2011 Honda Pilot, and we would like to know if anyone out there has one. If so can you tell us what you think about your Pilot... We don't want to bite off more than we can chew with the gas mileage.... So if you do have one can you tell us what year, fwd or awd and what your average gas mileage is. This is a big purchase for us and we would really like to make sure we do the right thing! Thanks so much in advance!

Pilots are awesome. We have an Acura MDX, which is built on the same platform and has the same engine and transmission and AWD system. We get 18 in town and 22 on the hwy. They are super safe.

a friend just bought one. They like it. They rode cross state recently and said it rode smoothly. Has 3 rows in it.

I would look for a leftover 2010, the car losses so much value once off the lot.
I was just sick about the mileage, just never seemed to work out as well as on the window sticker.
It was a nice car, but I could never invest that much in a new one.
Good luck.:wizard:

I know many people who swear by their Pilots. They're great cars, especially if you need a 3rd row seat.

Just my opinion, but I would seriously look at a CR-V if you don't absolutely, 100% have the need for the 3rd row. You can save THOUSANDS by going w/ a CR-V. Some friends of ours just purchased a brand new, 2010 CR-V EX-L AWD, fully loaded w/ everything but navigation, and it's a beautiful car. Roomy, safe, reliable, etc.

Subbing... We are looking at the 2010 Pilot model. Have you looked at the Ford Escapes? No third row seat but it looks nice.:confused3 Plus they have 0% financing right now. I really don't like new car shopping. Driving the car after, yes :cool1: but picking it out is not easy.

We have looked at the Escapes also, and honestly if we go with a Ford we are going to go with the Edge. We have driven all three and narrowed it down to the 2011 Ford Edge (only because they are majorly changing the interior and it looks so much better imho) and the 2011 Honda Pilot (because that is what is in stock around where we live... on the lots we haven't seen a 2010). That being said I love the Edge. We had pretty much decided to wait and get a 2011 Edge, but we went to the Honda dealership and saw an awesome deal and from what we are hearing from other people who drive the Pilot they get better gas mileage than we expected. Plus we would have more room... So we are weighing the pros and cons on both.... :headache:

The resale value on the Pilot is MUCH better than anything Ford. Hondas and Acuras are two brands that I am not concerned about buying new off the lot. You don't save that much buying nearly new. (within 1-2 years). Check out their values on nadaguides.com and you'll see. They don't take the same big hit that domestics take, because there are usually very few incentives on Hondas.

Incentives (like 0% or big rebates) devalue used cars and cause tremendous depreciation. If they are offering 0%, how cheap does the 2010 have to be to sell one? Very cheap, so the depreciation is huge. Honda also does not fleet sell, so there is no additional used inventory getting dumped into the used market 1-2 years down the line....

Thats one of the factors that is pushing us toward the Pilot....

Have you driven a FORD lately?

For anyone that is car shopping - my advice is this - GO DRIVE A FORD - AFTER - you have drive whatever it is that you want to buy - compare the two vehicles.

I travel a lot for work and have driven cars of nearly every make/model.

There are two standout vehicles that I have rented:
Ford Focus (with SYNC Tehcnology)
and the 2010 Ford Taurus.

No other vehicle, Honda, Nissan, Toyota, Chevy, Jeep, Dodge, Chrysler - you name it - I've driven it. And NOTHING comes close to what Ford Motor Company it producing right now - and has been for the last 8-10 year depending on the model line.

The myth that foreign vehicles are 'better' than domestic is true for every make except FORD.

If you read this - I want you to take a look at the Ford lineup for 2010 and 2011. Go to a Ford Dealership and ask to see these a Fusion, a Taurus, a Flex, and Edge, a 2011 Explorer, or a Escape.

Ford is the first company to offer a Hybrid vehicle at the SAME PRICE as its solo gasoline counterpart.

If you REALLY want to be impressed shop for a Lincoln!!!!

I'm being serious - go see what Ford has to offer! I think you will be very pleasantly surprised! Even on pricing!

GO! Drive a Ford!!!!! :)

And then report back! :)

We looked briefly at a Pilot, but went with a pathfinder. Do you have kids? Car seats? Do you need the third row? I love our Pathfinder! Gas milleage is ok, at about 19pg average. If you are looking at brand new, consider leasing. I know a lot of people think leases are a rip off, but if you know how to play the game, and get yourself a good deal, its not. Car values depreciate so fast it makes no sense to buy new. If you are looking for a vehicle to buy consider finding a preowned. That is as long as you know you are going to keep it. If there is even the slightest chance that you will want to upgrade to something else in a few years, leasing is the way to go. We have bought new, bought used, and leased. Every single time we bought we ended up upside down in the car pretty quickly. Never had any trouble with leases though.

I had a ford Escape as my last car. I really loved it, but once kid number 2 came along it got way too crowded. 2 car seats took up all the room in the back seat, and left the passenger seat so far forward it was terribly uncomfortable. When you decide what car to go for take into account as well if you will plan on having any more kids, and make room for them!!

Last year we purchased a 2009 Honda Pilot. Ours is 4WD and we love it. We looked at a lot of SUVs before we chose it. We love the 3rd seat. It folds flat and is split as well. It has tons of plugs for our electronics and even has an AC plug as well so you don't need a converter. Our main reason for getting it is it has a tow capacity of 4500 lbs and some of the other SUVs like the Edge weren't large enough to pull our boat. I can attest that the new models (starting with the '09) are a lot larger than the previous ones. We were able to put an 18 cubic foot refridgerator in the back with both rows down so we didn't have to pay to have it delivered! It is roomy! The gas mileage is decent. We get 19/23 MPG. It also has an awesome turn radius which makes it easy to park. They come standard with 10 airbags which was important to us as well. My friend has an Escape and it really is a lot smaller than the Pilot.

We just bought a 2007 Honda Pilot a few weeks ago. It had about 35,000 miles on it. We purchased from a certified Honda dealer. We saved about $15,000 buying used rather than new.

We love it! All the room, handles like a car, pretty good gas mileage for a SUV........

Please tell us what model has the hybrid going for the same as the non hybrid. That statement is false, per all the Ford MSRP pricing online.

Fusion base starts at slightly under 20K (top of the line at under 27K), while Hybrid runs starting at 28K. add options and the price distances themselves.
