Hi there Disboard peeps... I need some help! My mom is selling her big old colonial house to my brother and downsizing to a 2 bedroom condo. She has a house full of antiques and she is picking a few pieces with sentimental value and giving the rest to family and selling what we don't want. There is a LOT of stuff and some of it we have NO IDEA of what it is worth, but it is clearly worth something. I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to find out what the stuff is worth.... like an online site where you can upload pics or something of that sort. We had a guy from an antique store near her come by but we know he was low balling her so that he could turn around and sell the stuff (He kept saying "I'll give you xxx amount for this and yyy amount for that, we just wanted an appraisal).

SO, if you know of any online places, or an appraiser who works in central MA (Worcester area), let me know!

Thanks in advance~

you could try an appraisal service like Skinner. They will charge you for the fair market value appraisal. But you will get it in writing and its great for insurance purposes.

I know my mom had someone come when her aunt did the same thing. I'll try to get you her name and contact info. We're in Southbridge btw.

Generally speaking the monetary value of what something is worth is vastly different than what you'll get if you sell it. The dealer you had in may well be giving you the best price you'll actually GET for the items.

Good luck. Not an easy job for sure!
