Hi Everyone!

My folks have a big anniversary coming up and my siblings and I are putting together a slideshow for them. We need about 5-6 songs to set it to. Unfortunately, my sibs and I don't really listen to any music that would work (T-Pain and Usher don't really cut it for this!) so we need some help with suggestions.

So far we have:

Endless Love -- Lionel Ritchie and Diana Ross
Remember When -- Alan Jackson
Stay With You -- John Legend

Any other great suggestions for songs about long lasting marriages?

Thanks very much, this will mean a lot to them and I really appreciate the help!

What year were they married? You could google love songs from that time period. There is a current thread on first dance at wedding that could give you some inspiration as well.

Forever and Always by Shania Twain

You're Still the One also by Shania Twain (she has a lot of songs on this theme)

Still the One by Orleans

It makes a difference as to what year they were married because my parents were married in the 1950's and when I did theirs, I did both old songs that were popular when they were married and some later ones like from the 60's and 70's and my mom didn't really appericate those. I tried to time it through the years, 50's songs when they were first married, 60's songs when they were young parents, 70's songs when we were leaving the nest... She really only enjoyed the 50's songs.

I think that really depends on the person though. My father on law doesn't really like anything past the 50s, but my mother in law likes many songs from the various decades and would have loved how you did it. Both of my parents like as much new stuff as old.

Don't forget to shake it up with some fun! Maybe Jerry Lee Lewis -- Great Balls of Fire or "Do You Love Me?" by the Contours?

I'd google the era that they got married -- "Top songs of the 60's" for example, and get the list of some of the great songs from the decade they got married.

Always & Forever - Heatwave
The Way You Look Tonight - Frank Sinatra

Thanks for the helpful suggestions and comments, everyone!

They were married in '81 (30 years coming up for them!) so I will definitely check into some popular songs to use. We will be using their first dance song of course, which was Endless Love and was super popular that year. I will check out some Billboard lists for inspiration!

I also love the suggestion of shaking it up-- GREAT idea. I want it to be fun for them to look back and not just bittersweet! Thanks for that suggestion.

Oh, the 80's! You're the Inspiration (Chicago) is a great one, or Cherish the Love by Kool and the Gang.

Magic Moments by Perry Como

Through the Years by Kenny Rogers

Follow You, Follow Me by Genesis

When I'm 64 by The Beatles

In My Life by The Beatles

Love Will Keep Us Together by Captain and Tenile

I Would Die 4 U by Prince (Mix it up a little!)
