We are visiting Disney Land next week for the first time and our plan is to do the Anna and Elsa Meet N Greet on 8/20 when there is no extra magic hour. We plan on getting to the gate early, but how early do I need to be there? I was thinking 8:15????? Also, what is the best gate to go and line up at? I plan on having my husband do the fast walk/run to get in line and then me and the little ones will meet up with him. Any help would be appreciated.

On a day without early entry to Disneyland Park, the procedure seems to be settled that there is a pre-lineup for visiting the M&G. There will be some CMs holding signs and instructing incoming guests. As can be seen below (from about a week ago), the line formed to the left of the hub. There is no separate barrier for the Frozen queue. People are told to line up "on the sidewalk"

I'm not sure it will be to the left all of the time, but the cottage itself is on the left side of Fantasyland after you go through the castle. I'd aim to get to a gate toward the left about an hour before Disneyland Park opens.

About five minutes before the official opening time, those in line are led to the M&G.

hi! my husband was in line at 7 am for the 8 am opening...
he was first at the turnstile (far left)...

he entered by himself and i carried our backpack, stroller with dd, etc.
we were third in line because he did not run
follow the CMs with the signs...
we were in the queu about 7 min, waiting for the queen and princess to arrive from arendelle :)
good luck!

What about on the EMH/ MM days next week starting at 8 am? Are they still doing the meet & greet during this hour? We don't mind getting up early (will still be on Eastern Time, lol) but is it worth it to go line up an hour early at 7 am or will most people be doing this?

It seems to be open during MM lately and following the same procedure. We did it on a non MM last week. Were there at 7:30 for an 8:00 open. Maybe 20 back from the gate but we only waited 30 min for the princesses.

How long does the line get througout the day? Just curious ...

We were there last week and it consistently seemed to hover at about 120 minutes, except early AM. A couple of days it was longer and they even had the sidewalks marked for the longer line. A few times we saw Mousewait down to 90 minutes but that was rare.

We ended up waiting the 120 minutes one day. What was nice is as long as one person (adult) remained in the line another adult or older sibling could take your child on other rides, or go out and pick up snacks/drinks while the one person remained in the line. We could just never get out early enough to try the early morning suggestions as we like to stay later into the nights.

We did it on a non EMH day last month and it went great, better than I expected. A friend followed what we did this week and it worked great for them too.

Are you staying within walking distance, or are you driving in? What we did since were were walking from the hotel is that DH went over at 7:00 a.m. (the park opened at 8:00). He went to either gate 14 or 19 as those have trees in front of them, so are often the last to have someone line up in front of them. He wound up being first in line at that gate. DD and I got there about 7:30. We were going to just get in line and meet him inside, but his line wasn't that long yet, and the people in it told us just to go up with him, so we did. If you are all going together- I would suggest being there an hour before the park opens, especially with the park opening a little later now.

Then once they opened the gates, DH booked it with the other Dads and a couple of jogger moms down to the castle/hub- left side, and DD and I followed at a fast walk. That is where they do rope drop. There was no designated A&E line on our day- and a CM specifically came out and told us that there would not be. If there is no designated line your day, the rope drops from your right side, so that is where you want to be to get to the front of the pack. For us, once the rope dropped, DH took off with the other Dads and DD and I did a fast walk. DH could have been first in line, but he let some Dads pass him since he knew DD and I were not running. DD and I actually would not have been horribly far back even without DH running ahead and getting a spot. We wound up letting people go ahead of us for a while because our day, it started with just Anna, no Elsa, and we wanted to see both and didn't want to have to do it twice. Sometimes they are both there at the start (the day before we were there), sometimes it is 30 minutes before the missing one joins, and sometimes it is an hour. Our day was an hour, but it was still worth not missing more park time than that. The line was consistently 2 hours or more when we looked during our trip.

This week when my friend did it- there was a designated line from the hub area. When the gates opened, they walked to the hub/castle area. Because they did not run and there were several runners and faster walkers their day, they wound up quite a ways back in the line, but still not horrible. They were led down to the meet and greet area. Both Anna and Elsa were there from the start (she said she heard only Elsa had been there at opening the day before). Even being further back in line, they were done within an hour. She also reported that the lines seemed to be 2 to 3 hours the rest of the day.

Good luck! Hope it goes well for you!

Are Anna and Elsa still meeting together at DL or have they separated them?
I will be following this plan next month at a non early entry day.

They are not meeting separately but they are also not guaranteed to both be there. We saw both this morning. No MM or EMH and they were both there for the first half hour (not sure beyond that). Our photographer was there and she said (she's an AP) that it's hit and miss- sometimes they are both there, sometimes they aren't, and there's no pattern to it.
