We are planning on Boma for breakfast around 9 or 9:30 a.m. on Friday May 1, 2015. That will be our last day of a 6 day park ticket trip to WDW. It will be our 2nd time as a family (DS12, DS10) plus it will be my neice's (7) first and probalby only trip to WDW as a child. We have a week full of fun planned just the way we want it but can't decide on our last 2 ADRs. We have nailed down that we want to spend most of our last day in MK but arriving late so we can sleep a little later and eat a late breakfast buffet. We had originally planned on Chef Mickey's but the more I read about it, the less I wanted to eat there. It will be our last day. We will be over characters by then. My boys don't even care about the characters. They didn't at 6 & 8, so they probably won't at 10 &12. My neice will have her fill of princesses, Bibbidi Bobbidi, Akershus, and all that so we don't need Chef Mickey's on our last day ;)
We want to do something different and are thinking about Boma because we have heard yummy things! It is more relaxed because of no characters. For dinner that night we are planning on Crystal Palace buffet so it will be quicker and we will be over fancy food by then too. So Boma, right? That's a good choice?
So my question is how in the world do we get to Boma from AoA? I am looking at transportation maps and it looks like taking the bus from AoA to AK then to the AK lodge from there. Won't the buses be busy busy that morning? We are trying to plan what time we need to leave our room and how much time to allow for transporation. Would we just be better off driving to AK Lodge so we don't have to wait on buses? It's not that far. I would like to schedule our ADR at Boma for 9. Just wanted to get your thoughts....thanks!

Bus to any park, but ideally AK, then bus to AKL. But are you sure you want to do two buffets in one day?

Thanks Kaytie - I haven't thought about that being 2 buffets in one day, but we were going to make the breakfast sort of like a brunch. We will probably go to Downtown Disney after breakfast and shop/use up snack credits and get a Ghiradelli milkshake before we head to MK. So we would be skipping lunch that day and just snacking until dinner at CP. We are all light eaters anyway, so a buffet to us probably isn't getting our money's worth. Although the other option would be instead of doing the two buffets in one day, to take a break from MK and use those last 2 TS meals to eat an early dinner at HDDMR then head back to MK. Nothing like MK after dark and I don't think it gets dark until 8ish p.m. early May. We will already have seen Wishes and MSEP earlier in the week so we could hit our favorite rides during those times on our last day. Trying to make the most of our time and ADRs is tricky. :)

We love breakfast at Boma, and usually eat around 9:30am. The food is wonderful (best breakfast onsite, IMO) and the atmosphere is relaxing! If you have a car with you, I'd drive to AKL and then to MK. Staying onsite there will be no charge for parking at MK. Yes, you'll have to take the tram from the parking lot to the TTC and then either the ferry or monorail across to MK, but that's FUN! If you are staying at AoA and using the Disney buses, will your family have experienced the monorail during your trip? Have your kids ever ridden a big ferry boat? People always make it sound like it's a hassle to get to the MK from the parking lot, but we look at the transportation across Seven Seas Lagoon as part of the fun!

We haven't done HDDR so I can't help you there, but my family wouldn't have an issue with 2 buffets in one day, if they are spaced apart enough so that we are hungry before going to the dinner ADR. Crystal Palace will have the Pooh guys, so you won't have to find time to see them during your park days, either. That can save you 2 hours of park time, give or take, so even if the kids are "over" the characters, it'd be nice to have that 2 hours as park time during the week and not standing in line for characters. We always enjoy CP. I'd stick to a late-ish breakfast at Boma, leisurely day wherever you go, and then CP and evening at MK. (and drive your own car to save time! I know… this'll be debated, but it's my opinion and experience that it's faster to drive myself around WDW than take the buses!)
