Hi everyone. I wondered if anyone could help me.

It's my sons 5th birthday on the 17th of July and I'm having truble fiding an entertainer. I've never had one before, but as we're going to Florida in less than a year, I wanted to have a disney themed party, all his friends dressing as a disney character (there are so many I don't think it'll be too dificult? They don't have to obviously), Disney cake, decortaions, music, games (already have that sorted! lol) etc, but I can't find an entertainer.

It doesn't have to be a disney type 'show' just a clown or magician or something, but I don't know where to look.

Does anyone know of anywhere that will come on fairly short notice (just over a month)? I have around £100 to spend, but would rather not spend it all lol.

Also, has anyone got any ideas for the games etc? I have a disney CD, can esily get a cake and food. What games could we play? Folowing the leader (peter pan) s all I can think of lol.

Thanks so much for any help, I know it's a hard thing to ask lol.

I just want to get him in the Disney spirit as early as I can. He's only seen a handful of disney films as it is, so I've got a lot cut out already if I want them to recognise all the characters when we're there! lol

We had a Disney party when DS was 5 (he's 17 now!). As a Brownie leader it goes against my principals to pay someone to run a party.

We got the kids to come in fancy dress and colour in a Disney picture as they arrived to make a flag then when all were there played traditional party games adapted to the theme - pin (stick) the tail on Simba, musical pictures (pictures of character in envelopes scattered on floor when the music stops whoever has Mickey wins - put pictures back and continue until they're bored),pass the parcel with Disney gift - can't remember the rest but I'm sure you get the idea. I always make sure we have more games than we have time for and just stop when we run out of time.

Party tea on disney plates (quite hard to get back then).

A few quiet games before going home. Sleeping lions is a good one!

BTW his birthday is in February so it had to all be indoors.

Gah! I wish I thought of that two years ago. We threw a Disney Themed Party for my step-sister and the games were just the traditional games you have at childrens parties, parce the parcel (but putting Disney Nick-nacks inside), musical statues (to disney music) and sleeping lions (I agree with the above poster, thats a good game for a childrens party).

Good luck!

Some really good ideas there. Thank you. Sleeping Simbas lol good one.

Where did you get all the disney things (pin the tail on simba etc) and did you print the pictures of yourself on the computer?

Thanks again, some really good ideas there. Might get away with not spending much lol. More dollars for the holiday then :D

Decorate Gingerbread men
Pin the nose on Mickey
Pirates game...someone sits on a chair in the middle of the circle, under the chair you put some noisy treasure (keys etc), the person on the chair is blind folded, someone in the circle quietly takes the keys, everyone puts their hands behind their backs and says 'pirate, pirate your treasure's gone' the person the has to guess.
Face painting
Making Disney princess hats/pirate hats/mickey ears

My friend had a princess/pirate party for her daughter. They hired 2 'fairies' to run it, they basically face painting and hat making at the same time, then played some games, then the children had food in pre-made boxes and my friend gave each child a disney cup filled with treats then wrapped up with ribbon etc.

There are lots of colouring pages on the internet, but I think we just photocopied a colouring book (we're talking about 12 years ago, LOL!!) and stuck them to some garden canes to take home (safely away from the kids during the party to prevent sword fighting.)

Again just a big picture of a lion painted on the back of some wall paper did the job for pin the tail - or you could find a picture of Eeyore or any other character with a tail. We pre-wrote the child's name on each tail.

You can make most things fit a Disney theme. Have a trawl on the internet for kids party games and think laterally.

The main thing is not to make it too long 5 year olds get overwrought very quickly. I found 2 hours is more than enough for games, food, birthday cake candles(they used to take the cake home as they'd filled up on other stuff before we got to the cake) and quiet games before sending the little ones home for mum to get them down from their sugar high and over excitement.

We had a Disney Princess party for DD 2 yrs ago when she was 6. It was all girls so they came dressed as Princesses. I was the Fairy Godmother and made them into real Princesses by doing their make up, painting nails and spraying glitter in their hair. Whilst this was going on they were making crowns - we had trawled the craft shops before hand and bought lots to decorate crowns with that didnt involve glue.

We played traditional games adapted as mentioned before - musical castles - pictures of castles printed off internet to stand on, pin the crown on Belle - DH had drawn a large picture of Belle (get a cheap roll of wall paper to draw on) pass the parcel etc etc.

We did lots of searches on EBay/ internet for princess stuff and there were loads. We served the food in boxes which were shaped like Princess carriages.
WE also decorated the room with fairy lights and lots of pink, purple, glittery, fluffy things

We also made the invites ourselves personalising it by inviting each person to become a Princess. On it was a photo of DD with Cinderella at WDW

Some great ideas there!

His party is next sunday so I'm desperately trying to get the last few bits lol.

So far, we have most of his friends coming, god knows how many party bags, which I've already filled (have POTC ones filled with eyepatches and maps etc, princess ones with princess stuff, cars ones etc), about 10 different prizes, including 3 pass the parcels (disney pressies), 2 for best dressed boy and girl, and the rest for games, disney banners, cups, pltes and napkins, and plenty of disney music!

I've got a big cardbrd box which I've wrapped in wallpaper, then drawn/cut pictures of disney characters and stuck them on each side. It'll be a dice for a chocolate game I used to play (no-one else on this earth can remember it, it seems! lol). You roll a 6 (a Mickey!) and then have to put oversized gloves, boots, scarves hats etc and try to cut a big bar of chocolate with a knife and fork, with your huge gloves on. You have to eat as many sqaures of chocolate before someone else rolls a Mickey, then you swap. I think they'll love that!

I've also drawn 4 characters to put in each corner of the room. I'll shout out a characters name and everyone has to run to that corner. The last one is out, and the winner wins a prize.

I've got pin the tail on eeyore and sleeping Symbas; win a prize.

Bibbity poppity balloon! Everyone has a balloon, and someone is the leader. They all have to follow the leader, and they're out if they drop the balloon or don't copy the leader. When it's down to the last few, they all have to bounce on their ballon or whatever they can until it pops! The first one to pop their balloon wins a prize!

I wanted to do musical chairs, but there will only be a few chairs at the place I've booked. If there are enough chairs or not everyone wants to play I'll do that.

I really wanted to do the one with the drawings on the floor, but I've not had time to do any more and haven't got a printer! lol

What do you think so far? Is there anything that doesn't cost too much that I should add?

I just need to get a cake and sort the food out, then I'm pretty much ready!

It all sounds great fun.

I love playing the chocolate game, I like your idea of making a Disney dice - I have known one girl to put the whole bar of chocolate in her mouth in one go!! (She was a little older than 5 though)

Your running to the corner game can be played in a different way if you want to - play music, when it stops everyone runs to a corner of their choice, you pull a character name out of a hat and everyone in that corner is out. Put the name back in the hat and continue to play until one or two are left in.

You could also have musical statues and musical bumps (last one to sit down) on hand as extras if they get through the other games too quickly.

I'm sure it will be a great day.
