Hi I need help deciding on a restaurant for a 40th birthday celebration. Which restaurants make a nice presentation with the birthday cake, singing etc..? Any input would be appreciated!!:worship: Here is a list of some of the restaurants we my visit.

1. Hoop De Doo
2. Cinderella's Royal Table
3. 50's Prime Time
4. Boma
5. Tonys
6. Crystal Palace
7. Kona
8. Coral Reef

I'll speak only of what I know.
Hoop dee doo won't do a cake- but they DO sing happy birthday of some sort to everyone who's bday it is adn the cast walks around to everyone who's having special occasions. It's a ton of fun. cheesy- but fun. But there's unlimited drinks so as the night goes on it seems less cheesy :)

brendaziz,
Thanks for the info. I am going to try to plan the Hoop De that night. So maybe we'll do Cinderella's for lunch with a cake there?

presentation is all up to your server. It is really hit or miss

Plan it to work best with your schedule knowing the server may or may not make a big deal out of the cake presentation

Pumbaa ,
Last year we had a miss at Ohana's. We special ordered a cake from the GF bakery that was delivered to the Ohana kitchen. After we finished dinner a server not our original came out with the our cake put it on the table and walked away. It was kind of awkward. We wanted to sing Happy Birthday but felt we would be bothering everyone else so we just cut the cake. I am trying to avoid having this happen again. Maybe my expectations are to high?

Same thing happened to us at Akershaus. I had ordered a cake for my daughter's 5th birthday celebration and the server very unceremoniosly plopped it on the table. There was a card that went along with it but still, I thought the server would at least round up a couple of other servers to sing. On the same trip however, we went one evening to the Plaza on Main st in the MK. Now it had been noted on all our reservations that it was her birthday but no cake had been ordered for that meal, nor was that supposed to be a special dinner, but our server came out with the biggest, most beautiful cupcake you've ever seen with a candle in it and sang Happy Birthday and all the tables around us also joined in. It was wonderful and also made up for the bad presentation at Akershaus. They also made a big deal over DD another evening at the Rose & Crown. You just never know, I'm afraid.

AnnetteF,
Funny something similar happened earlier in the day. While we were having lunch at the Columbus House in MK ,3 counter servers were making rounds singing Happy Birthday to anyone celebrating. Who would of thought we would be singing Happy Birthday at a counter service restaurant! It was alot of unexpected fun!!

If you want an actual birthday cake, you will need to order it through the cake hotline at 407.827.2253 with 48 hours notice. There is a great thread about that here:

Some restaurants will provide a complimentary dessert to a person on their birthday, but it might not actually be cake and it might not be something the birthday person actualy wants or likes. If this is important to you, order and pay for a cake.

I'd imagine that sort of thing can happen anywhere and can't be predicted in advance because it all depends on who's working that night and what they will or won't be bothered to do. I'd suggest that you tell your server when you arrive what you want - that you'd like a presentation of the cake to the table with a birthday song. Do it out of the hearing of the birthday person if you'd like.

I also have seen on the Disney website that you can purchase a special occasion cake at most TS restaurants when you arrive, but you can't have it personalized. If you want a personalized cake, it should be ordered through the cake hotline with 48 hours notice.
