LOng story...will try to make my needs know with out a lot of words! We are going to DIsney March 27th but staying at Fort Wilderness in a motor home...Friends of ours really want to come but with it being such short notice they don't know where to stay..Some back ground she is diagnosed with cancer and the out look doesn't look great. She has been out of work for while and funds are tight but she wants to do this trip with her family her kids are 5 and 8. While she is still able. We don't have room in the Motor home my parents are coming with us. Plus I don't think she would get the rest she would need with all of us!
She is looking at the moderates.
1. Which one has the easiest transportation? We will take our car to the parks so that way if she needs to go back and rest one of us can take her but due to scheduling they have to arrive 2 days before us so they will be on their own.
2. Which one has the best pools for theming. I really see them spending most of their time at the pools and only a few hours each day in the parks. So to get the feel for Disney is one pool area better than another?
3. What about Allstar resorts? Would you say this would be a good choice? But how is the transportation?
4. Do all the resorts have food courts or is that just in the budget resorts?
Lots of questions I know but we are FW people all the way so I know nothing about the hotels. Any information would be helpfull!

Spinning,

We found Port Orleans Riverside to be very relaxing. The food court was just what we needed, and there is a sit down restaurant also. We had our car and drove to all the parks which were only a short drive away.

We stayed in the Alligator Bayou section. There are quite pools around the property and the landscaping is very nice.
My 8 year old really enjoyed the main theme pool.

I'm not sure about the exact dates, but the French Quarter section of Port Orleans if scheduled to reopen in late March. The rooms will be completely redone. This is a smaller resort and might work well also. There is a food court here and one large main pool.

I've never stayed at the Allstar resort, but you may get more response if you post on the Disney resort board.

:D

Thanks so much for your response. I did post it over there too. I didn't realize I was on the wrong board! Thank you!

I would go with the Pop Century - although POR would be closer to FW.

does she belong to AAA???? they have some good discounts on WDW hotels.

would she consider renting points from a DVC member - I can't help all mind are gone until next June,2004.

but sometimes you can find a last minute deal -

if she can find any place on WDW property - remember this is on season until after Easter.

she can rent OKW points (probably) - they would run $270 on Fri/sat per night - and $110 Sun-thurs per night. This is a studio. the other DVC resorts are more expensive.

A studio at OKW has 2 queen beds and everything that a hotel has - plus a balcony - mircowave and under-the-counter refrigerator. this is a WDW resorts so it has all the on-site stuff.

FW is having a sale on their cabins - but that starts 4/18/2004 to 6/5/2004 - so that won't help with a last minute trip.

however I would also post on the dvc boards - sometimes members have points that they can't use and this would help someone and would make them feel better.

I am so sorry that I can't help but all my points are gone.

I called member services the only night that is ifie would be March 29 - but they were pretty sure they could get it.

here is the DVC site
