Help!! Where to stay at DW?

i am in the beginning stages of planning a DW trip for 2020 (maybe 2021). I am a DVC member - home VGC. We are traveling with a total of 10 people (5 adults, 5 kids) staying 11 nights total. For the 1st half of our trip we are looking at renting an RV and staying at FW because we think it looks fun but I’m not sure it’s wise to camp there the whole time. So my choices with DVC are Grand Floridian 2 bedroom lock off or 2 connecting studios at Poly. I likely can’t get those without renting our points and then renting someone else’s for one of those resorts. I don’t know anything about the other on-site hotels and I’ve only been to DW once as a teenager (stayed at cabins in FW). .
So...are there better options than those DVC hotels? With the 2 bedroom I could cook some meals (that’s what we do at Grand Californian) but I’m not sure how much we would go back to the hotel with the parks being quite a bit farther away. TIA for your advice.

What are your concerns with RVing the whole time?

When we cook at Dvc it’s one meal per day, generally. Either breakfast or dinner.

Ad much as I love VGF, the OKW 2 bedrooms are biiiiig. We’ve loved our family tended family time in OKW 2 bedrooms.

My concerns with camping the whole time are: 1. laundry. We pack light and do laundry a lot. 2. Bed comfort 3. Only 1 shower. most of the rvs I saw for rent had only 1 shower 4.Space those Rvs just aren’t as big as I’d like. 5. Transportation. My understanding (could be wrong) is that it takes a longer time to get to Parks (other than MK) from the fort.

The OKW 2 bedroom only sleeps 9 from my understanding. The Floridian lock off sleeps 10 because it has 5 in the studio and 5 in the 1 bedroom. Do other 2 bedrooms allow you to sleep 10?

OKW 2 bedroom sleeps 9:
2 in the master bedroom (King bed)
4 in the 2nd bedroom (2 Queen size beds)
3 in the living room (Pull out sofa and pull out chair)

With the camping--there are multiple comfort stations at the fort for using the bathroom/showers, and I've heard they are extremely well maintained and clean. There are also washers and dryers (for a fee) there for your laundry.

I know a lot more about the DVC resorts than about any of the other options. That is what I’m writing here for- to get opinions on other hotels at DW and about what hotels to research further.

Have you considered the Treehouse Villas at Saratoga Springs? I think they hold 12 max. Unique and fun. The resort is kind of in the heart of things, in my opinion. Short boat ride or walk to Disney Springs, and it's pretty easy to get to MK, Epcot and HS from there.

Offhand, Animal Kingdom Lodge has some larger villas ( 2 and 3 bedroom ) as well as Copper Creek has a Grand Villa if I am correct. Animal Kingdom is a beautiful resort that is very large and very offset from all the parks except for AK. You can't beat it for it's uniqueness and if you love animals and African culture this is the resort for you. Copper Creek is located on the WL property and are the newest DVC so everything is new and the reviews have been very positive. If you are looking for the outdoory feel of FW, this is a good addition to the trip.
