Hi, we're going to be staying at Disneyland hotel in August for 3 nights, before our cruise. We have booked a standard room, but looking for suggestions as to which building we should request, or if there is a difference.
It will be me, DH, DD 10, DS 8, DS 2, DFIL and DMIL. :cool1:

If you have a city view, which a standard room does then ask for the building that the lobby is in. I think it is the marina tower. That way you may be able to see the fireworks and will at least be able to see the park. If they give you a bonita tower city view, you'll be disappointed. That would be my best advice. Good luck.

We were in the Marina Tower and were dissapointed. If it is at all possible stay in the East side of the Sierra Tower with a DD view the higher the better and you should be able to see the fireworks. :cool1:

thanks for the feedback. It looks like I will try for the main building (? Marina), I want to be as close to the parks, pools etc. I don't want to be spending all our time walking from one place to another! :flower:

Sierra is closer to the park. Marina is a smidge closer to neverland pool but not by much. it is pretty equally located to both towers in my opinion. :confused3

If you booked as Standard room the chances of you getting any kind of view where you will see fireworks is probably slim. The Bonita Tower is likely what you will get. Don't let that scare you however, we like the Bonita Tower and the walk to the pool and parks is maybe a minute or two longer at most. When you think about all the walking you will do, believe me it won't seem like that big of a deal. You also get to walk through the Koi Pond area which is really nice. We had the Bonita Tower once with a view of the pool. We were up high and we could see the Matterhorn too I think. I have stayed in that tower about 4 times so it all kind of runs together. But I do remember thinking that was a far better room than the two I have had in the Sierra Tower. Have never stayed in the Marina Tower but you have a 50/50 chance of looking at the parking lot with the Marina. Basically however, the rooms are all really nice and large and you probably won't spend that much time looking out the window regardless of what tower you are in!

The only request I had was Sierra Tower and I got it. Its the closest to monorail stop/Downtown Disney (not by much) but I tell you after walking all day with kids every step counts:)

Sierra Tower (closest to DL) has the nicest views, but most, if not all, are view rooms. Most of your standard room views are in the Bonita Tower facing away from DL and the pool area, and the Marina Tower, also facing away from the pool area. (pool side rooms are usually view rooms). You can see the fireworks from some of the standard rooms in the Marina Tower, because DL is visible to the left. We were able to see fireworks from our low floor standard Marina Tower room. I agree that Sierra Tower is the best bet, but you may not be able to get a standard view in the Sierra. I think the Marina Tower is a much better bet than the Bonita Tower for standard rooms, both because it is closer to DL and DTD, and because the views are nicer.
