We're going on DCL wonder 11/3-11/6/05. Our flight leaves MCO on 11/7 at 8:30 am..... So we have all day for WDW

Here's the background info.....

1. We're taking our nephew(12) with us (DH, Me, DS-12, DD-10). He's never been to WDW. My sister, his mom, died 2 yrs ago and never got the chance to take the boys to WDW.

2. My kids have been 7 times and we've stayed on-site for all but the 1st trip (POR, POLY, Swan, Dolphin). We love on-site.

3. We'll more than likely just do one park ($300) and we decided that it has to be MK....If you're only doing one, you have to start there! :sunny:

4. The trip is for DS 13th b-day and he wants monorail hotel....Yikes a bit pricey.

We'll have a car and we plan on heading directly to MK from the WONDER and plan on being to MK by 9:30 am...and spending the day there, really won't spend much time at the hotel, unless the parks close early? I looked at last year and MK was open until 9:00 on that Sunday.

Is it worth it to spend the money to stay on-site for one night?

TIA!

Is it worth it to spend the money to stay on-site for one night?
on sight for 1 night yes IMO for the convenience of not having far to travel after being in the park all day ....paying to stay deluxe (esp. at a monorail resort) ....not so much. Awfully pricey to pay for a deluxe resort if you won't get to spend much time at the resort. If $$ isn't an object, then it may be worth it but I personnally wouldn't want to pay quite that much for only 1 night. If you really want to be near MK I'd look into staying at WL or maybe renting points from a DVC member to stay at VWL as it will be closer and not quite as pricey. Otherwise for 1 night I'd just stay at a value or moderate since it will be much less $$ and you'll really only be sleeping there from what it sounds like:scratchin

But that's just me....some people probably wouldn't even want to spend the $$ to stay on sight at all. I don't think I'd want to spend deluxe price $$ for only 1 night though if you won't get to spend any real time at the resort.

Well, based on last years schedule, the MK was open until 9pm the first Sunday night in November, so I'd use that as your guideline. Do you think that realistically you will spend all 12 hours in the park, or do you think that the kids might like an afternoon break to come back and swim for a little while? Just asking, because we did a similar thing last May. We booked an additional day at WDW after our Wonder cruise. I really thought the kids would want to do the rides all day. I don't know if it was because of the early start to our morning, but by mid-afternoon, they all wanted to rest for a little while. I was glad that I had decided to book the GF, so we were right there. We had a few hours rest, a nice dinner and then went back for the parade and fireworks.

I checked on line and the CR has a garden wing room for $350 that night. That's not bad, considering you could drive there after the cruise, be checked in and walk to the park just as quickly as going straight to the TTC, getting your tickets and taking the monorail around and in.

Another option that makes sense is to book that night at the Hyatt in the airport. You would need 2 rooms there, but they have a family package where you pay full price for the first room, then receive 50% off the 2nd room for the kids. That would still run you about $300, but you'd already be at the airport to catch that early flight home.

I'd probably go for a CR wing room since they are large and sleep 5, as well as very close to MK and exciting all at once . Definitely worth it. Have a great trip. (So sorry about your sister).

Thanks for your replys....I never thought of VWL and possibly renting points. I'll have to look into that....Don't know if I can take the stress of trusting that my reservations will be there on Sunday when I pull up to the resort though :rolleyes1

We loved the POLY when we stayed there in 2001. My DS is now a spoiled rotton little brat, he only wants deluxe hotels :rotfl2: . He really is just happy to be going and taking his cousin with him.....

I'm now leaning towards the CR, since we've never stayed there...DH says lets go for the tower if we're staying at CR (Kaching!).

I'm planning a "garage sale" for next month, maybe I'll let my profits determine where we stay.... :rotfl:
