Okay , yesterday I checked the website for the cheerleader competition held in at the Walt disney world Resort and they will be there for sure the first two weekends in FEB of 2004. Wonderful! Dh and I have a trip planned then for just the two of us(either weekend) and we wanted to stay at a value resort to cut costs, since we will be in the parks most of the time. I've heard that they also go to the moderates. Where would we be free of them? Im thinking mostly of night time when I want to sleep!!!!!

Last Jan 2003, we saw hundreds of them at the AS sports.

Keep in mind that Pop Century is opening in December so there will be a whole bunch more value rooms available. It's also possible that instead of being in Music and Sports - which is where they usually get put (surpised that they were in Movies - usually they don't put groups there from what I understand) - they might be consolidated into Pop Century as one resort.

Your best bet is call Disney and ask where the groups are being housed. If they already have their schedule, they might already have rooms blocked at a resort.

Any chance you could upgrade to a mod? If you can go the first week in Feb there are usually some really great deals to be had. I agree the cheerleaders are all over the place. You don't see too many in the parks except MGM--that park is overrun with them, especially on Saturdays.

Beware of upgrading to a mod to avoid Cheerleaders.

My niece went twice last year with her squad... once over NYE for bowl game appearence they stayed at AStars and for Nationals in early Feb. they stayed at CBR!!!

Last time they were here, they were at the All-Stars, Caribbean Beach, AND Port Orleans. Once Pop Century opens up, I'm sure they'll be there, as well.

If you're looking to avoid them, I'd recommend Coronado Springs. More expensive than a Value resort for sure... but, it's a beautiful resort. Best of all, it will be quiet. :)

Thanks all!!! I guess we will be at our favorite resort-CSR! Poor us!
I wanted this to be a budget trip, since we aren't planning any resort time. It will just be DH and me doing the parks for our first time together without DS!
We really wanted to try Pop Century.... Do you think that as the date gets closer Disney will know where they are putting them???

With Pop Century opening, the plan is to shift all the regular guests to Pop and fill the three AS's with the Cheerleading groups. But beware, they will also be at Coronado, Caribbean, and Port!

This year, I had a friend staying at Caribbean Beach for our wedding, and the buses were ALWAYS packed with cheerleaders, and they were out practicing cheers everywhere. (LOL, we started making sure that we picked her up whenever there was a group wedding event after doing a bus ride with her one day!)

We stayed at the Contemporary, and we only saw them in the parks, none on the property that we saw. We had guests in Coronado Springs that said that they ran into a bunch of girls at the pool one day, but nothing like them taking over Caribbean Beach.

I have talked to management at one of the All Stars on a past trip and they did say that Pop Century was going to be the main resort to house the groups because most of the groups perform at WWS and they want to keep them close to this area. I have heard confirmation of this several times. I've also heard that the All Stars would become more of a family oriented resort and they would try to keep the groups at Pop Century. I'm going to wait before I book any ressies at PC, just to see if this pans out.

N2mm, I think you're right. When they first announced the plans for Pop Century they included a comment about it being a Value Resort that would be close to WWofS for the many groups who come to events there.

There's actually a lot of concern with putting the cheerleading groups at Pop...since there's no walk way to the dwwsc they're afraid the kids will try to cross that busy highway,so it becomes a safety issue. I'm actually a front desk manager at the all star and one of my responsibilities is groups, and I can tell you that as of right now the plan is to make the AS's the group resort! But then again there's a lot of times that you guys find out stuff before I do!!
