HELP!! Whats a discount code? New girl confused!

Im sorry if this is a repeat but I am VERY new here and am wondering what is meant by the dicount codes? I have never heard of them before and how can you find them?

My other question is that I see a lot of people saying that their rooms are booked already, but that they are waiting for better rates to come out. How can they get a better rate when it comes out if they are already booked? My FH & I have been waiting to book b/c we want to find a good rate first. Is that a bad idea?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Were going for 7 nights this August during regular season for our honeymoon.

Let me see if I can explain this for you. Discounts codes are discounts that Disney puts out periodically. This has been pretty much standard operating procedure for the last few years as you can tell by all the people here waiting for them. However, there is NO quarantee, that they will come out at all. The most common are general public (applies to everyone), Annual Passholder (for those that have or will have AP's) and Florida Resident (for those in FL). Last year and appears to be this year, they have offered a package also, that you pay for 4-5 nights and get two free including tickets. The codes themselves are usually 3-4 letters and you give that to the CM taking the reservation and the computer will apply that rate. And yes a lot of us do go ahead and book so that we will have the room and then when we get a code, we call and have it applied. Hope this makes a little sense, ask more questions if you like.

There are usually discount codes available covering certain times of year. You rarely should have to pay rack rate for a room at WDW!

Go to www.mousesavers.com

Click on "Walt Disney World", then on "Disney Resorts", then on "Go straight to discounts". Mary lists all the usual discounts, such as AAA. Then she lists any codes available for certain time periods. So far, special codes are only available thru July 4 - many of us are waiting for codes for the later part of the summer !!

Book your room now, and have the code applied when it comes out!

Book your room right away for August, and keep an eye here and on Mousesavers for discounts or packages that May come out any day now, if they do then call and have them applied. or you could book through someone like dreams unlimited, an agency that keeps an eye out for discounts for you.

3 digit codes are room only discounts. 4 digit codes are for packages.

Thank you all so much for the help and advice! I had NO IDEA that there were codes out there for packages and rooms! THat makes me ecstatic! My fiance and I are going to reserve a room really soon and then just wait for those to come out then! I had no idea stuff lilke that could be applied after the initial booking had been made!

I heard some discounts are coming out then for 5 nights for 7. Is that just for a room booking or for the packages? thanks again so much everyone!
