Help! What to wear to afternoon Ballet

So I got this girlfriend who talked me into seeing Swan Lake today at 3pm - it's the Moscow Ballet, so she said, "if you don't like THIS ballet, you'll never like ballet".

HELP! What does one wear to an afternoon ballet?

I asked her if a sundress would be appropriate, and she gave me her (albeit quite snobby) "uh, no, that would not be appropriate" answer. But she didn't say what WOULD BE!!

Anyhow, she's Russian, and doesn't do English well, so maybe she thought a sundress was something else.

I mean, I planned on wearing a light green (very spring-like) sun dress, the same one I bought to wear to my sister's college graduation and I wore to church on Easter Sunday.

Alternatively, I have a "basic black" dress, but no matching shoes. I can run to Payless and get some sexy strappy sandals if that's what you guys think I should wear.

I also have a floor-length (very sexy) black semi-formal gown with big red flowers on it (which I bought for our honeymoon in Tahiti, but never wore - 'cuz we went skiing instead).

Final option: floor-length chiffon sundress, light green with "faded" flowers. (what shoes???)

IDEAS???? Hurry, I gotta be ready in 4 hours!

I think you will love Swan Lake, pebs.

I think you would probably be better suited to wear the little black dress, but the sundress would work too. I go to the ballet a couple of times per year and I see everything from jeans to evening gowns. Something in the middle would probably work best.

I WANT to wear the green sundress that I wore to sissy's Graduation, primarily because it has a matching sweater (and you know how cold auditoriums can get sometimes).

I think I'll take them both with me (basic black dress and green sundress with sweater), and decide when she shows up to pick me up...heh-heh!!!

I have to drive to our house in Daytona where she's picking me up, because the ballet is in Daytona.

But I guess I should get the strappy high heels for the black dress just in case...besides, maybe I'll actually need them again one day!

The prince and his true love were replaced by their understudies just before the performance - and it was incredible!!!!

I can only imagine if the REAL dancers had performed - but I couldn't imagine being more enthralled by the dancing.

How I WISH I could move like that!
