as an end of the year gift.

Any teacher out there? I really need some idear's.

Thought about buy her some flowers, though i'm not sure as they will only end up dead in a couple of week's.

Willing to spend up to £20.

Anyone?

Vouchers - get Next ones and she can get twice as much in the sale! Or something classic for the house - photo frame, plain but attractive vase. Don't get bath stuff or chocolate. You could get wine if you know what she likes.

i like the more personal gifts, if their is a local pottery or craft place by you how about painting something for the teacher like a mug or a plate, or if you could get a plain tile you could paint then varnish it and they could use it.

An Ill health income protection policy for stress related illnesses.

Actually Choc's out re hot weather, flowers are usualy very good, vouchers most likley the best now,

My kids did flowers

I would go for some Vouchers for Next or River Island (or similar) or even some Lottery tickets ~ they'd be fun. I'm sure they must get tons of chocolates and flowers too, but I'm sure they appreciate anything :)

I work in a nursery and the thing I appreciate the most is a short note from the parents saying thank you for everything I have done with their child. We don't need gifts, just a thank you note.

My roommate is a teacher. I can give you a little insight from observations I’ve made over the years.

Not to put down the suggestion to make something, but whatever you do, don't give a mug. This is something that occurs to a lot of people as a good teacher gift. If I have to find space for one more coffee mug in the house... Other things that fall into this category are teacher nick-knacks ("World's greatest teacher," ceramic apples, little chalkboards, etc.) Over 28 years of teaching and 100 kids each year, there's not much room left in the house for these things. There’s even less room in the classroom.

A nice card, or depending on the child's age, a hand-drawn picture are excellent suggestions. These are things that can be tucked away in that year's yearbook, and make for a more-lasting memory.

Another thing I'd recommend avoiding are homemade edible items. There are often "is this safe to eat" questions for a teacher. Unfortunately, some of the cookies and other items make their way into the trash once the kids leave. (My roommate teaches in an inner-city school. You probably wouldn't have the same issue.)

Any token you give will be greatly appreciated. It really does thrill a teacher when a child (or the parents) think enough to remember them at the end of the year. The sentiment that "it's the thought that counts" is very true.

The one he seemed most thrilled by this year was a gift card for Office Max. It wasn't for a lot of money, but he thought it was great and used it for some of the supplies he needs for next year.

He also got a Starbucks card and an AMC movie pass. Again, not for a lot of money, but he enjoyed using them.

Ahh thats lovely :)

Thank's :thumbsup2

I will get her some flowers but they will be done in a vase so at least she has something to keep and remember my horror bag's with. I also have a nice card for her.I will get the kid's to draw her a nice picture.

I might even add to that and buy her a nice pen set.

As lovely as she is,i don't think Next or River Island are quite her places.

Most teachers I know, and a lot of my friends are teachers, LOVE getting a book token.

i bought a key ring with a little guardian angel from clinton cards, she even came out and said thankyou and how nice it was not to get flowers...
my yr11 clubbed together and brought me a mickey apron (i teach food tech) as they know about my disney fetish :rotfl: :rotfl:
find out what they like a buy something personnel, garden centre vouchers or m and s so they can buy food if they wish.
but a thankyou card with a nice message really is the best
