I don't post much but I always comme here when I want to find out something because the Dis Boards always know the answer ! I have been to Disney many times with my family and have stayed in different resort catergories and always had a great time. I have 4 kids so our most recent trips with the kids we have stayed at Animation and 3 times at Pop and have always been happy. We are going in June and were very excited to see that staying at Coronado Springs would be only a little more than staying at Pop so we booked it thinking it would be great to try a new resort and for the kids to have a slide at the pool. We knew about construction and that doesn't bother us. Fast forward to yesteday when for some reason I looked up recent reviews on Trip Advisor and was very upset to see a bunch of people saying the same thing . Musty smelling rooms, mold in bathroom, squishy and damp carpets, unpleasant staff, etc. I am not that picky and we have always had very clean rooms at Pop but I can't deal with smelly and moldy rooms. I don't mind if the room is a little worn or outdated but I expect it to be clean . So now I need to figure out if we want to keep this resort or switch to Animation and have my stepdaughter sleep on an airmattress because she is too old to share with her brother ( we have 4 boys and 1 girl) . I saw on the Disney mom's panel that people have been able to get a roll away bed for an extra charge there but my travel agent said that they don't have them there. Sooooo what should I do ? Stick it out and give Coronado a chance and hope for 2 good rooms or switch to Animation and deal with the air mattress ? Help !

I say, keep your current reservation and let you and your family be the judges of CSR. I try not to put too much stock into travel site reviews but do weigh the good with the bad. They also most certainly do have rollaway beds and they are given out on a first-come, first-served basis.

Personal opinion? CRS is one of our favorites, and we refer to it as a "deluxe light" because it seems to be in a category by itself between mod and deluxe. We've stayed there at least a dozen times, always in Ranchos (the furthest section from El Centro, but we don't mind the walk and enjoy the quiet back there), and never had an issue. Our room has never been musty or dirty, nor have we dealt with mold issues. The beds have always been comfortable, no dampness in the carpet, etc. With that said, every resort is ging to have a room or two that has problems, and there's a good chance that some of the reviewers were unfortunate in being put into one of them. If you ever find yourself in that position, go to the front desk and explain the issue(s). They will work with you to make it right.

I think that people tend to post more negative reviews than positive, so while i do check out trip advisor, for a Disney Resort I would rely more on this site.

I stayed at CSR a little over a year ago. The resort was stunning, The holiday decorations were understated and lovely. The resort lobby and entryway were spotless, with plenty of attentive staff present. The valet parking area was well manned, and the young people there were courteous and responsive.

The grounds were well manicured. Our room clean and had plenty of intend and toiletries. The mousekeeper noticed that we were three women and had used the supplies, so there were extra on her second visit.

The manager seemed to be everywhere. I was very impressed with her, she was not hovering, but was lending support from the front desk to the concierge desk to valet asking.

Now I know that there is construction happening now and have no idea how that will affect your stay, but I can say that my experience was positive. I routinely suggest that folks look at this resort when they plan. I will be honest in that I was not a fan of the theming. There was nothing the resort did wrong though. It was me.

We were there in March and had no issues with mold or musty smelling room. Now Pop, that was a different issue for me. My room had mold all over the bathroom and smelled like the carpet had been wet for 3 years. It could just be the luck of the draw, the resort is currently get a rehab so obviously the rooms are a little dated. If you get a room with mold, just ask to be moved, Disney is very good about that.

We love CSR. I've stayed at all levels of resorts and our stay at CSR was actually my all time favorite (yes, I enjoyed that stay more than deluxes).
Give it a shot. Ppl who write reviews usually write them because they aren't happy.

We have stayed at CSR a few times and loved it. We thought the rooms were really nice and have a little more of a deluxe feel than the other mods. Our kids also loved the pool!

We have good friends that stayed there in January and loved it!!! I was there for just two nights, in late Jan and was very sad to leave!!! Found it to be a very clean and pleasant resort. It was the one resort I really had little to no interest in staying in. But, dd got us a great CM rate, so that's where we stayed. The room was clean, not musty or dirty at all. We found the vast majority of resort CMs to be quite wonderful...very friendly and helpful. The thing to keep in mind is that people with less than stellar hotel/resort experiences are much more apt to post bad reviews. Those that are happy tend to post a lot less.

I've stayed at CSR twice and didn't have any issues with musty smelling rooms, mold, or unpleasant staff. I would stay there again without hesitation. On my second stay, the bathtub drain was slow to drain. I called maintenance before we left for the parks and it was fixed by the time we came back to the room for our mid-day break.

I agree with the others, if you get there and are unhappy just asked to be moved. We have done that in the past and it was really no problem. I haven't stayed at CSR yet, but I think it looks lovely. That dig site pool looks awesome. Any one room can have issues, at all levels at Disney but people are usually very helpful if you ask nicely for your requests. I hope you have fun!

I wouldn't worry too much about trip advisor. People can be very picky, sometimes ridiculous. I read a review a gentleman left the other day regarding AKL, he was very upset that the "mini bar" was empty... it's a fridge! Amused me.
I like to look at things like room tours on YouTube when I'm choosing.

I agree with everyone else - Keep your ressie's & reserve judgment for when you get there. We've stayed @ CSR twice and while I don't "care" for the theming, the resort itself has always been clean, and a nice relaxing place to stay. Add to that, Disney has yet to disappoint me - the very few times I'm needed them to "make it right", they always have, and with a smile and no hassle.

Always always take Trip Advisor reviews with a grain of salt. People who are unhappy are WAY more likely to post a review saying they are unhappy. People who are satisfied just don't post reviews as often. If you get there and the room is dirty or smells moldy, then you go down to the desk and ask to be moved.

I agree with all of the posts above. We have stayed at CSR and were very pleased with the resort.

If I didn't stay at the WDW resort because of the negative reviews I have read on these or other boards, I would have never stayed at any WDW resort. And would have never accumulated a bunch of fantastic WDW vacation memories with my family.
Honestly, when we first started planning WDW vacations; I read everything I could on the resort of choice. And I also felt like changing some of our reservations because of what I have read. But didn't and we have NEVER had any of the problems as described in some of the reviews. I not saying it can't happen, and if something happens that you believe is unacceptable do as others have said and go to the front desk and tell them about it.

This.

Also, I don't use Trip Advisor much for reviews. If you actually spend some time reading things, you will notice how many people are just, well, stupid. They get mad and leave a bad review because they expected something that was impossible. This isn't just with Disney, this is with all sorts of places. The hotel doesn't have an indoor pool? Then people will write a bad review about there not being an indoor pool. If you wanted a dang indoor pool, why did you book somewhere that didn't have one?!? That sort of thing.

We've stayed at CSR at least a half-dozen times and have never had a room that smelled of mold, or was musty. We've always enjoyed our stays there. It's a beautiful resort, we've always had good luck with the CMs we've encountered. The last time we were there, we were actually assigned a room that hadn't been cleaned (and it was 9 pm). I walked back to the front desk and I was helped promptly and courteously, and was given another room immediately.

Thank you so much everyone! You all have calmed me down and I kept my reservations ! I appreciate all of the help!
